Through the project, the Women's Union at all levels organized capacity-building training courses, communication campaigns, children's forums, competitions to find innovative communication ideas; and organized dialogues between local Party committees and authorities at the commune level with members and women... The Women's Union at all levels established 258 community communication groups, 45 change leaders' clubs, and 72 trusted addresses.
Ms. Ho Thi Nhanh, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Kim Ngan Commune, shared: “Implementing the contents of Project 8, Kim Ngan Commune has now established 18 community outreach teams. Thanks to choosing appropriate and practical forms and content of propaganda relevant to the local reality, the community outreach teams have contributed to positive changes in people's awareness and actions. Most notably, the equal division of labor within families and gender stereotypes are gradually being eliminated. Many women hold important positions in the local political system…”
In recent times, the Provincial Women's Union has also performed well its role in monitoring and providing social feedback on issues related to gender equality, protecting women's rights. Unions at all levels have promoted the application of information technology in propaganda, operation, management, and organizing digital skills training for women, helping them confidently access technology and use social networks safely and effectively.
Improving digital skills and information access capacity
Over the past period, with a sense of responsibility and the efforts of women's associations at all levels throughout the province in gender equality work, they have contributed to helping people improve their awareness and change their actions. Gender stereotypes and outdated customs in the community are gradually being eliminated, and the position and role of women are gradually being affirmed in society.
Currently, in the context of a rapidly transforming society with the digital transformation process, technology brings many opportunities for women in terms of learning, employment, and development, but also poses new risks and challenges, such as: online fraud, gender stereotypes, cyberbullying, privacy violations, harassment, etc.
The 2025 Gender Equality Action Month, themed “Gender Equality and Safety for Women and Girls in the Digital Age,” is of paramount importance. This activity demonstrates the concern of the central and local governments for gender equality and the advancement of women. It also serves as an opportunity to raise awareness and emphasize the responsibility of the entire society in promoting gender equality and preventing gender-based violence, especially in the digital age.
“Every organization, official, member, and citizen throughout the province should join hands to act for gender equality, for a safe, humane, and violence-free society. Let's start with the smallest actions in the family, workplace, and school to spread the positive values of respect, love, equality, and sharing,” shared Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh.
To effectively implement the month of action, joining hands for gender equality and safety for women and girls in the digital age, according to Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union Nguyen Thi Minh, it is necessary to focus on key contents such as: Continuing to strengthen propaganda and education, raising awareness among officials, women's union members and all strata of the population about gender equality, the rights and roles of women and girls in the digital age. Communication forms need to be diverse and appropriate for each target group and locality; promoting communication activities on digital platforms, applying technology to spread positive messages, aiming to eliminate gender stereotypes, gender-based violence and create a safe and friendly online environment.
Promoting digital transformation in the activities of associations, supporting women, especially women in remote areas, ethnic minority women, and rural women, to improve their digital skills, information access, e-commerce, and digital economy. This will help women participate, take ownership, and benefit from the digital development process. Safe and friendly models for women and children need to be replicated, such as: community trust centers, community information groups, safe villages for women and children, etc.
Furthermore, the Provincial Women's Union actively coordinates with Party committees, government agencies, departments, and mass organizations to raise awareness and knowledge among women and children, and to support women in equipping themselves with the skills and knowledge to protect themselves in the digital environment. It encourages, motivates, and mobilizes the participation of men, families, and the entire society in gender equality work. The Union also actively advises, proposes, participates in the development and social critique, and monitors the implementation of the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws related to the legitimate rights and interests of women, families, children, and gender equality. Women need to strive to improve themselves, actively participate in political, economic, and social activities, and gradually affirm their role and position in the family and society…
