Enhancing the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in sustainable poverty reduction efforts.

QTO - In the context of the province's synchronized implementation of sustainable poverty reduction and social security programs, the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and political-social organizations in monitoring, providing feedback, proposing solutions, and connecting the development of livelihood models and job creation for people, especially the poor, is increasingly affirmed. Many programs and movements launched by the VFF have proven effective, becoming a cornerstone for localities to achieve sustainable poverty reduction goals.

Connecting people to jobs and creating livelihoods for the poor.

Hieu Giang commune was established on the basis of merging 4 communes of the old Cam Lo district, namely Cam Tuyen, Cam Hieu, Cam Thuy and Thanh An, including a village of Van Kieu ethnic minority with more than 100 households, so the poverty rate of the commune is still high. To help people easily access information on poverty reduction, the locality has promoted digital transformation, popularized the internet and mobile networks; information is conveyed through loudspeakers, conferences, social networks, and village meetings.

Recently, the Youth Union of Hieu Giang commune, in coordination with the Southern Quang Tri Employment Service Center, organized a mobile job fair attracting more than 200 youth union members, young people, and workers. At the event, people received career counseling and guidance; were introduced to job opportunities within and outside the province; registered for vocational training and overseas employment; and accessed information on insurance policies, preferential loans, and startup support.

According to Nguyen Quy Nhat Linh, Secretary of the Youth Union of Hieu Giang commune, rural youth in general and those in Hieu Giang commune in particular urgently need access to official information about careers, jobs, and overseas employment. Therefore, the mobile job fair in the locality helps young people better understand the labor market, boldly change their mindset, and proactively find suitable paths. This is also a way for the Youth Union to concretize the Resolution of the Commune Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term on job creation, poverty reduction, and human resource development. In the past, the Commune Youth Union has coordinated with the Fatherland Front and other organizations and associations to review the number of disadvantaged young people and those without stable jobs to support vocational training, access preferential loans, and gradually build livelihood models.

Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hieu Giang Commune Nguyen Thanh Binh said that the locality has developed a plan and implemented an investigation and review of the current situation of the labor force in the area; coordinated with social organizations to open vocational training classes, transfer science and technology, and improve production skills. Through many diverse information channels, it has helped poor, near-poor, and newly escaped-poverty households increase their access to information related to job creation. Up to now, the rate of trained workers in Hieu Giang Commune has reached 85%; the rate of workers with degrees and certificates has reached 60%; and over 90% of trained workers have jobs.

Working together towards the goal of reducing multidimensional poverty.

Over the years, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has become an important bridge between the Party, the government and the people in implementing social security and sustainable poverty reduction. With the motto "No one is left behind", the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations have implemented many programs and movements to support the poor and disadvantaged people to rise up.

In particular, the "For the Poor" Fund campaign and the "Joining Hands to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses" movement continued to be implemented extensively and effectively. In 2025, the "For the Poor" Fund at all levels throughout the province raised 425.8 billion VND. Through this, support was provided for the construction of 10,268 new solidarity houses for poor and near-poor households, valued at 374.9 billion VND; support for the repair of 2,246 houses, valued at 35.9 billion VND; and the implementation of many other forms of support totaling billions of VND.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, the Fatherland Front at all levels and member agencies, units and organizations mobilized resources, organized delegations to visit and present 88,652 gifts, 12,030 warm clothes, 41 tons of rice and many essential items to poor households, policy families, victims of Agent Orange, people with disabilities and orphans, families affected by natural disasters, and those in especially difficult circumstances with a total value of 46.8 billion VND.

Beyond simply mobilizing resources, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and other mass organizations play a crucial role in monitoring, providing feedback, and proposing initiatives, contributing to ensuring that social welfare policies are implemented correctly and reach the intended beneficiaries. The Vietnam Fatherland Front has contributed to hundreds of documents and projects, many of which directly relate to livelihoods, production support, compensation, livestock support, and housing for poor households. Many models supporting the poor have been replicated, such as "Shelter of Love," "Rice Jar of Love," "Godmother," and various livelihood support models. Through the connecting role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, hundreds of billions of dong have been mobilized to eliminate temporary housing and help the poor "settle down and prosper."

Speaking with reporters, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Duong Tan Long, said that the Fatherland Front clearly defines its responsibility not only as monitoring and providing feedback but also as proactively proposing models to support the poor and connect resources in society. Sustainable poverty reduction cannot rely solely on direct support; it requires creating livelihoods, generating jobs, and helping people rise out of poverty on their own. In the coming time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province will continue to strengthen the monitoring of poverty reduction and new rural development programs; focus on monitoring the restructuring of administrative units in conjunction with caring for the people's lives; and effectively utilize channels for receiving feedback from the grassroots, ensuring the people's right to self-governance.
