Series of 3 storms and tropical depressions, possibility of storm number 9

This afternoon (November 10), Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, said that there are 3 active storms in the Pacific Ocean .

First was Typhoon No. 7 Yinxing in the East Sea of ​​Vietnam, followed by Typhoon Toraji in the East of the Philippines, and another one in the far northwest Pacific Ocean (Typhoon Man-yi).

There is also a tropical depression sandwiched between typhoons Toraji and Man-yi.

According to Mr. Huong, 3 storms and 1 tropical depression are located on the tropical convergence zone with an axis passing through the northern region of the East Sea.

Tropical depressions or storms that form on the tropical convergence zone often move along this axis. That explains why the East Sea will continuously welcome tropical cyclones in the coming time.

Specifically, storm number 7 is active, after about 24-48 hours it will be storm number 8 and the possibility of storm number 9 appearing in the near future cannot be ruled out.

Mr. Huong commented that storm Toraji is likely to move into the East Sea between late afternoon and tomorrow night (November 11).

Experts also explained that the western Pacific Ocean is hot and humid, providing very good energy to nurture storms, vortices, and low pressure, thus forming the current storm chain.

It is also forecasted that in November and December, the sea area will still be very warm, so the possibility of tropical depressions and storms forming is very high. In addition, according to the assessment, La Nina is not strong yet (only above neutral). It is forecasted that when this phenomenon is strong, tropical depressions and storms will be more common.

With such continuous storms, dangerous weather in the Northern and Central East Sea areas with strong winds, high waves and rough seas will last for a long time.

In addition to the storms, in the next 5-10 days there will also be a strong northeast monsoon, which will contribute to strong winds and waves at sea.

Due to the influence of storm No. 7, the weather in the western sea area of ​​the North East Sea (including the sea area of ​​Hoang Sa archipelago) has strong winds of level 7-9, near the storm's eye level 10-12, gusting to level 14, waves 3-5m high, near the eye 5-7m; rough seas.

From tomorrow morning, the sea off Thua Thien Hue to Binh Dinh will have winds gradually increasing to level 6-7, gusting to level 9, waves 2-4m high; rough seas.

Vessels operating in the above mentioned dangerous areas are susceptible to the impact of storms, whirlwinds, strong winds and large waves.

Twin storms appear, typhoon Toraji pushes storm No. 7 to the south

Storm No. 7 Yinxing is weakening rapidly. Storm Toraji is about to enter the East Sea and become Storm No. 8. There is a double storm interaction gap between the two storms, and Storm Toriji will cause Storm No. 7 to shift further south.

Weather forecast for the next 10 days (November 10-19): Northern region will have sunny days and cold nights. Forecast: Storm No. 8 is likely to appear in the East Sea on November 12, Central Central region will have localized heavy rain.
