The Golden Apricot Program honors journalist Van Hien, former Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nghe An Newspaper.

Journalist Van Hien (born in 1948, in Quynh Ngoc commune, Quynh Luu district (Nghe An), joined journalism activities very early. In 1967, when he was not yet 20 years old, Mr. Van Hien was on the front line as a traffic worker, present at all roads and ferry terminals such as: Ham Rong Bridge (Thanh Hoa), Lai Vu ( Hai Duong ), Bung Bridge, Cam Bridge, Ben Thuy ferry (Nghe An), Long Dai ferry (Quang Binh).

In 1969, Mr. Van Hien worked at Lao Dong newspaper, in 1977 he moved to Nghe An newspaper. In 1993, he was assigned the important position of Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nghe An newspaper for 17 years. Since 2010, he has been the Chief Representative of the Vietnam Journalists Association Office in the North Central region in Nghe An.

Journalist Van Hien is not only famous as a war journalist, who was always present at the fiercest fighting points to record the heroic fighting scenes of our army and people in the resistance war against America. He is also a collector of many touching stories, reconstructing portraits of journalists who died on the battlefield.

Journalist and poet Van Hien is the author of the famous poem "Please Don't Call Me an Unknown Martyr" . The poem was written on July 27, 1993, when he visited the martyrs at the Vietnam - Laos International Cemetery, Anh Son District, Nghe An . Later, this touching poem was published in many major newspapers, touching millions of hearts.

In more than 40 years of writing, journalist Van Hien has published more than 20 books and many valuable literary and journalistic works such as: "Moment and Forever", "Please Don't Call Me an Unknown Martyr", "Standing Under the Bomb Range", "Uncle Ho's Journalism Stories"...

Nowadays, despite being at a rare age, journalist Van Hien still writes articles and poetry every day, and his works are always highly appreciated by readers.

Recognizing the contributions of journalist Van Hien, on behalf of the program "Mai Vang Tri An", Mr. Pham Hong Ky, Member of the Editorial Board, Deputy General Secretary of the editorial board, Head of the Northern Representative Office of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, sent his regards, encouragement and awarded a certificate and a support of 10 million VND to journalist and writer Van Hien and wished him good health and more valuable articles and compositions.
