'The Story of the Sun', when a female journalist wrote a novel about human trafficking

Some readers earnestly hope that the fate of Ms. Ngoan - the main character in the novel 'The Story of the Sun' - will not be so tragic, but author Ngoc Tran does not want to write anything other than the harsh reality for victims of human trafficking.

Continuing the inspiration about the fate of women, the "lives of women" in her first short story collection Tomorrow Could Be the Next Life published in 2021, author Ngoc Tran has just released the novel Story of the Sun depicting the fate of rural women in the fierce flow of contemporary society.

The work opens with the image of Ngoan - an innocent country girl, traveling far away for the first time with the person she loves with a simple dream of happiness as a couple but falling straight into a worldly tragedy because she was tricked and sold in a foreign land.

At the book launch event on the afternoon of September 18 in Hanoi , Ngoc Tran said she wrote the novel from her childhood memories in a village in the Northern Delta with so much love and also the lingering sadness about the fate of her neighbor who was sold to China. Therefore, the emotions and pain in her first novel are very real.

As an experienced writer, Ngoc Tran chooses a simple, concise, and detailed writing style. She also understands the reading habits of today's readers well enough to choose a short length and a concise, coherent structure for her novel.

Although the book is less than 200 pages, the author divides it into many chapters with topics that are very attractive to readers such as: Leaving Paradise, The Goods, Village Ghost Story, The Fateful Trip, Escaping from the Watermelon Peel and Stepping on the Coconut Peel, Self-Immolation, An's Ex-Love Gets Married ...

Most of the book's capacity is filled with rapid developments, the atmosphere is so dense that it's hard to breathe, but the ending opens up brightly, guiding people to believe in goodness, making the seemingly sad and tragic story become lighter.

"Everyone will find light in that story, will realize that kindness is the sunshine that illuminates our lives," said author Ngoc Tran.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre , Ngoc Tran said she does not bring the experience and knowledge of a veteran journalist in the field of culture and entertainment into her literary works. She is interested in social topics, the fate of people, especially women in contemporary society.

Her experience as a journalist and editor has helped her write concisely and logically. She is planning to release a collection of short stories with a detective feel , The Last Murderer , next year.

Ngoc Tran is a journalist with nearly 20 years of experience in the field of culture and entertainment.

In addition to her first short story collection Tomorrow May Be the Next Life (2021), she has many short stories and poems published in newspapers and has won several awards in short story contests organized by newspapers.
