Pilot project on teaching Science in English

Sharing the spirit of innovation, the Department of Culture and Society , Thanh Xuan Ward has implemented a pilot project to teach Science in English at Nguyen Tuan Primary School - a practical activity to improve the quality of education, contributing to building a modern and integrated learning environment.

On the morning of October 30, 2025, the seminar was organized with the participation of experts from Hanoi Capital University; representatives of leaders and experts of the Department of Primary Education , Hanoi Department of Education and Training; leaders and experts of the Department of Culture and Society of Thanh Xuan ward and the Board of Directors and teachers of primary schools in the ward.

Delegates attending the seminar congratulated the teacher and students on successfully completing the lesson.

The illustrative lesson of Science with the topic “Using Solar Energy, Wind Energy, and Hydropower” was successfully carried out by teacher Thieu Nguyen Ngoc Bich and students of class 5A6 - Nguyen Tuan Primary School. The lesson ensured the required achievement, while creating conditions for students to confidently use English in their studies, showing initiative and creativity in communicating in a second language.

Students use tablets connected to the internet to search for information related to learning content.

In particular, the lessons are designed to develop students' digital skills: Students use tablets to look up data on the internet, and AI applications support learning, making lessons intuitive, lively and engaging. This teaching model does not increase the duration, does not cause overload, and ensures core knowledge and is suitable for the age characteristics of primary school students.

The Science lesson in English of class 5A6 is not only an interesting experience but also an important step in the journey of innovating teaching methods of Nguyen Tuan Primary School - aiming to build a dynamic, modern, integrated learning environment, helping students develop comprehensively in knowledge, language, digital competence and global skills.

After the demonstration lesson, Dr. Pham Viet Quynh - Director of the Primary Education Program and Dr. Ngo Thi Kim Hoan - Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Hanoi Metropolitan University shared about the trend of teaching subjects in English in primary schools, especially the content and language integrated learning (CLIL) model. The experts also guided effective CLIL teaching methods and techniques, while emphasizing the 4C principle in lesson design: Content, Communication, Cognition, Culture.

Students introduce stories of applying artificial intelligence (AI) on the use of solar energy in life.

The topic not only helps teachers broaden their vision of modern teaching methods, but also arouses their passion for innovation and creativity in teaching, contributing to building the image of a dynamic, integrated teacher who is ready to adapt to the educational requirements of the digital age.

It can be affirmed that, from today's pioneering steps, Thanh Xuan ward education is affirming its spirit of innovation, rising up with quality and prestige; promising to continue to achieve many new successes on the journey of building a modern, humane and integrated educational environment.
