Asian Development Bank (ADB) experts share experiences and solutions for private economic development and investment attraction with Ha Giang province

BHG - On the eve of the first Coordination Forum to promote private sector development and create opportunities for ethnic minorities organized by the Committee for Ethnic Minorities on June 23 in Yen Bai province, on the morning of June 22, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) delegation had a working session with the Ha Giang provincial delegation to discuss issues related to the activities of the Technical Assistance Project "Improving institutional capacity to implement the Master Plan for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas, 2021-2030". Attending the meeting were representatives of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Health , Plan Vietnam; leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches.

Delegates shared experiences and solutions to promote private economic development and attract investment to increase income for people in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in Ha Giang.

Reporting at the meeting, the leader of the Department of Planning and Investment said: In the past time, Ha Giang province has issued action programs and resolutions on private economic development and investment attraction for the period of 2021 - 2025, aiming to promote potentials, advantages, and shift the economic structure towards rapid and sustainable development, gradually building Ha Giang as a province with development in tourism, trade, services and typical agricultural commodities, with 2 areas of focus on attraction including agriculture and tourism, services. Up to now, the province has accumulated more than 3,670 enterprises and affiliated units with a registered capital of over 36,076 billion VND and 815 cooperatives... Besides the achieved results, the work of developing the private economy, attracting investment in agriculture and tourism is not commensurate with the potential and advantages of the locality, and there are still some limitations.

In discussions with Ha Giang province, ADB Bank experts made general comments and assessments on the development of the private economy and investment attraction in Ha Giang province. Analyzing the potential and advantages of the locality; proposing solutions on the strategy for developing tea trees in lowland and highland areas; developing the medicinal plant industry; promoting communication activities to develop green tourism and sustainable tourism associated with community benefits. At the same time, they pointed out difficulties in administrative procedures, investment attraction mechanisms, land planning, and the lack of high-quality human resources...

Discussing at the meeting, some delegates said that it is necessary to research and supplement solutions to develop orange trees, mint honey, indigenous black pigs and Ha Giang beef. Sharing experiences in improving the capacity of community tourism cooperatives; promoting local agricultural products on digital platforms; linking agricultural development with tourism and services with the goal of creating potential opportunities to increase income for people in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the coming time.
