The spectre of violence has cast a shadow over Europe’s biggest football festival. Two groups of England and Serbian fans have been involved in a brawl. The incident began when fans from one team attacked the other with bottles, before throwing chairs and overturning tables.

The incident between England and Serbian fans occurred right after German police shot a man wielding an axe and firebomb threatening the security of Euro 2024.

German police quickly intervened and brought the fight under control. This incident left one England fan seriously injured and hospitalized.

Speaking about the incident involving home fans, British police said: “We have received information about a fight in Gelsenkirchen before the match between England and Serbia. German colleagues have arrested those who attacked Serbian fans. At this stage, we only know that investigations are ongoing.”

“Our investigation team are reviewing footage of the incident and if any British nationals were involved then a football ban will be imposed on them,” a British police representative said.
