Meridian Audio was founded in 1977, when the company launched the Meridian M1 – the world's first active home entertainment loudspeaker. In 1991, the Meridian D6000 was introduced as the world's first DSP digital active loudspeaker.
Then, in 2021, the company launched the DSP8000 XE – its new flagship speaker and the first product from Meridian’s groundbreaking “Extreme Engineering Programme”, the result of years of investment and cutting-edge research into audio design and built on the fundamentals and uniqueness of Meridian’s approach to delivering authentic, natural and lifelike sound.

And recently, Meridian has just introduced the DSP9 model, which is also the latest product achieved from the Extreme Engineering Program. The device has a level of performance never seen before in a speaker of this size, this is also a DSP digital active speaker with built-in amplifiers so there is no need for a cumbersome system setup.

The product has a curved design that tapers upwards and is cut with the top of the speaker, which is also a typical design style of Meridian column speakers and it also helps to minimize unwanted diffraction inside. The sophisticated three-dimensional space inside the speaker cabinet is to enhance the performance of sound reproduction.
The DSP9 also features Meridian’s proprietary Precision Sonic Transport technology, which uses advanced techniques and processes to ensure the entire audio signal path through the speaker maintains maximum audio fidelity. A range of finish options are also available to blend seamlessly with your room’s interior design, creating a seamless fit.

The speaker possesses advanced and characteristic Meridian technical technologies such as Bespoke Signal Mapping and digital signal processing, E3 Bass extends and improves the speaker's low frequency response; Q-Sync buffer system minimizes jitter, Pro-Active Bass protects the woofer from excursion amplitude, Pro-Active Thermal protects the tweeter and midrange from overheating, True Time; True Link; Free-Q, ...
Meridian DSP9 has overall dimensions (Height x Width x Depth) of (1,101 x 392 x 511)mm, weight 68kg. SPL sensitivity 119db@1m, frequency response 20Hz – 40kHz.

DSP9 includes 6 drivers, including 1 25mm beryllium dome tweeter with silver voice coil; 1 160mm midrange driver with anti-resonance clamp mounting system; 4 200mm polypropylene bass drivers (dynamic amplitude excursion up to 24mm).
The DSP9 comes with dedicated amplifiers for each driver. Both the tweeter and midrange drivers use Class AB amplifiers rated at 150W into 4 Ohms, while four bridged pairs of Class D amplifiers each deliver over 240W into 4 Ohms. The total amplifier power inside a single speaker is over 1,260W.
