The two signatories are the Polish Huta Stalowa Wola - PGZ (HSW-PGZ) group and the American Raytheon.
Under the $1.23 billion deal, HSW-PGZ will produce 48 M903 launchers for the Patriot system. These launchers will equip six new Patriot batteries, with two batteries expected to be delivered to the Polish Army between 2026 and 2029.
In addition to the launcher, HSW-PZG also undertakes the production of many other components of the Patriot system, including engineering equipment, transport vehicles and radar components.
The Wisla program plays an important role in Poland's multi-layered defense strategy. The system consists of three layers: the highest layer is the Patriot with a range of up to 150 km, the second layer is the short-range Narew system effective up to 25 km, and the lowest layer is the Pilica and Pilica+ to deal with threats at a distance of several kilometers.
