The two parties involved in the signing were Huta Stalowa Wola - PGZ (HSW-PGZ) of Poland and Raytheon of the United States.
Under the $1.23 billion agreement, HSW-PGZ will produce 48 M903 launchers for the Patriot system. These launchers will equip six new Patriot batteries, with two batteries expected to be delivered to the Polish army between 2026 and 2029.
In addition to the launcher, HSW-PZG also manufactures many other components of the Patriot system, including technical equipment, transport vehicles, and radar parts.
The Wisla program plays a crucial role in Poland's multi-layered defense strategy. This system comprises three layers: the highest layer is the Patriot system with a range of up to 150 km, the second layer is the short-range Narew system effective up to 25 km, and the lowest layer consists of Pilica and Pilica+ to counter threats at distances of a few kilometers.
