The lawsuit, initiated by the National Heritage Preservation Organization (NTHP), alleges that the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump violated numerous federal laws by demolishing the East Wing of the White House without congressional approval or required environmental and heritage assessments.
NTHP filed a petition with the Federal District Court for the District of Columbia on December 12, asking Judge Richard Leon to issue a temporary injunction to halt all construction until federal oversight procedures are completed.
The organization asserted: "No U.S. president is permitted to demolish any part of the White House without prior due process of vetting, whether it's President Donald Trump, Joe Biden, or anyone else."

The Trump administration rejected the allegations. White House spokesman Davis Ingle stated, "President Trump has the full legal authority to modernize, renovate, and beautify the White House, as all his predecessors have done."
Meanwhile, US President's aide Steven Cheung criticized NTHP on social media, describing the organization's leaders as "losers of the Democratic Party and liberal donors."
This is the second legal challenge to the project, following the rejection of a previous emergency petition. A hearing on NTHP's request is scheduled for December 16th.
The project, covering an area of over 8,300 square meters and accommodating nearly 1,000 people, was funded by wealthy individuals and large corporations with contracts with the U.S. government . This is considered the biggest change to the exterior of the White House since 1942.
