People's Artist Minh Chau was born in 1956 in Thai Nguyen , known as "the beautiful woman of Vietnamese cinema", "the beauty icon". She has big round eyes, delicate features and a bright smile.

She graduated from the Vietnam Cinema School (now Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema) and began her career in the 1970s.

Her first role was in the movie No husband wharf (1976), opened a long journey of attachment to the seventh art. Since then, she has made her mark in a series of famous films such as Girl on the river, Woman playing with sand, Provincial Party Secretary,... with natural, profound, powerful acting.

She made her mark through impressive roles in films such as: "Girl on the River", "Woman Playing with Sand", "Provincial Party Secretary"...

In 1988, she was awarded the Golden Lotus Award for Best Actress for her role as Nguyet in The Girl on the River. Twelve years later, this prestigious award was once again called her name for her role as Lien in Woman playing with sand.

Not only stopping at two Golden Lotuses, People's Artist Minh Chau also received the Golden Kite in 2010 (role of Mrs. Thuong in Provincial Party Secretary), Medal for Cinema Career and many other noble awards.

In early May 2024, at the age of nearly 70, she continued to affirm her form when she won the Best Actress award at the Las Palmas Film Festival (Spain) for her leading role in Coolies never cry – unique film by director Pham Ngoc Lan.

The role was praised by critics as "full of emotion and depth". Although she is nearly 70 years old, People's Artist Minh Chau is still a beautiful and famous actress, a familiar face on Vietnamese screens.

In 2024, People's Artist Minh Chau won the Best Actress award at the Las Palmas Film Festival (Spain) for her leading role in "The Coolie Who Never Cries".

Not only devoted to art, People's Artist Minh Chau also did real estate business a long time ago. This side job helped her to continue pursuing art without having to endure economic pressure.

Besides her flourishing career, People's Artist Minh Chau's private life is quite quiet and full of low notes. When she was young, she married architect Kieu Tuan - assistant director of the film Girl on the River.

With a busy work schedule and the demands of acting, their marriage did not last long. After the divorce, she became a single mother raising her daughter.

The artist currently lives alone in an apartment in Giang Vo (Hanoi), with her pet dog named Sin. Her only daughter – Kieu Linh – is living and working in the US. The mother and daughter occasionally visit each other, or she flies to the US whenever she misses her child.

Despite her advanced age and declining health, People's Artist Minh Chau is still passionate about artistic activities. Recently, she took on the role of judge at the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III), in the Asian Film Competition category, with the President of the jury being the famous Korean director and screenwriter Jang Joon-hwan.
