Never stop learning and practicing
Medical human resources are the core factor determining the quality of services and the development of the health sector. Realizing that, medical facilities in the province have recently not only focused on developing a team of highly qualified doctors, but also paid special attention to training and fostering nurses, technicians and midwives.
Every year, the competitions "Excellent Skills", "Excellent Nurse - Excellent Technician" are held enthusiastically at many medical facilities. In early October 2025, the Provincial General Hospital organized the "Excellent Nurse, Midwife, and Technician 2025" Competition. The competition attracted 105 candidates from clinical departments, who went through theoretical competitions, technical process practice and communication and behavior. Doctor CKII Nguyen Ba Viet, Director of the Hospital, emphasized: "The competition is an opportunity for nurses to improve their knowledge, practice practical skills, communication skills, and behavior in the process of caring for patients. Thereby, the hospital can assess capacity, determine appropriate training and development directions to innovate service spirit and attitude, aiming at patient satisfaction".
With careful preparation and a spirit of learning and competition, the contest has created a vibrant learning movement, spreading the spirit of love for the profession, responsibility and humanity among the nursing staff. The results of the contest will be the basis for the Board of Directors of the Provincial General Hospital to continue improving the quality of human resources of the nursing staff, midwives and technicians, contributing to building a professional, friendly hospital, taking patients as the center.

Medical facilities in the province constantly encourage the spirit of creativity in professional activities and scientific research of nurses, especially in areas directly related to the reality of care and treatment. At Bai Chay Hospital, improving the quality of nursing is carried out through many specific solutions, linked to the reality of daily patient care. On average, the hospital receives 1,200-1,800 visits per day, and treats 800-1,200 inpatients. The nursing, midwifery, and technical staff consists of 562 people, accounting for more than half of the total hospital workforce.
According to nurse CKI Ha Thi Dung, Head of Nursing Department of Bai Chay Hospital, in recent years, the unit's nursing staff has always been given the opportunity to study, practice and participate in scientific research. Since the beginning of the year, 17 nurses and technicians have chaired grassroots research projects; many have participated in provincial research and the Provincial Technical Innovation Competition. These scientific research projects and projects have contributed to finding solutions to improve care efficiency, reduce medical errors and aim for the highest goal of patient satisfaction. Along with that, departments and rooms in the hospital have actively launched innovation movements, improved care processes, promoted the application of technology in record management, patient monitoring, helping to save time, improve service quality and improve the patient experience during treatment.

Firmly step into the new phase
It can be seen that the role of the nursing team is increasingly affirmed in the health care system, in line with the orientation of the Party and the State on improving the quality of health care in the new period. Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW dated October 25, 2017 of the 6th Central Conference, Session XII "Strengthening the work of protecting, caring for and improving people's health in the new situation", emphasized that the activities of medical nurses are one of the contents that the health sector pays special attention to, in order to improve the quality and effectiveness of patient health care.
Recognizing the important role of the nursing staff, the provincial health sector has implemented many solutions to improve both quantity and quality. Currently, nurses, midwives and technicians account for nearly 50% of the total workforce in the sector, affirming their core role in taking care of people's health. Notably, 97% of nursing staff in the province have college degrees or higher, many of whom have university and postgraduate degrees. Medical facilities also focus on building suitable job positions, caring for the material and spiritual life so that the nursing staff can confidently stick with the profession.

The whole province currently has 25 nurses per 10,000 people. The Resolution of the 16th Provincial Party Congress sets a target of 33 nurses per 10,000 people by 2030. This is an important orientation for the provincial health sector to continue to train and improve the nursing staff in both quantity and quality, meeting the health care needs in the new context.
At Quang Ninh Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, promoting the role of nursing is considered a core factor to improve the quality of treatment. Every year, the hospital organizes specialized training courses, updating communication skills and caring for premature infants, high-risk pregnant women, etc. Nurse Nguyen Thi Kim Van, Department of Neonatology, shared: “Caring for newborns, especially premature infants, requires not only standard techniques but also patience and love. We are encouraged to learn, research and come up with initiatives to improve the care process, so that each operation brings safety and confidence to patients.”
At Tien Yen Medical Center, the motto “Patient-centered” is realized through practical actions. Each nurse is trained in communication skills, guided on how to behave in stressful situations, and encouraged to listen and share with patients. Thanks to that, the patient satisfaction rate at the Center is always above 98% in internal surveys. Not only improving their expertise, nurses also become “companions” to help patients feel secure and trust the grassroots health system.

The silent efforts of the nursing team have been duly recognized. Many nurses in Quang Ninh have been awarded the title of “Excellent Physician”, a noble award from the Party and the State, honoring examples of dedication and devotion to patients. They are ordinary but resilient people, who keep the flame of love for their profession burning every day, spreading the spirit of compassion in the journey for community health.
