* Hello artist Hoai Linh! Looking back at 2024, are you satisfied with your life?

- Meritorious Artist Hoai Linh : Last year, I returned to cinema in the project Getting Rich with Ghosts , luckily the film earned more than 100 billion VND. This success is a great motivation for me to continue acting in films if I have the opportunity. I feel very excited, always ready to "be cheerful and excited" when participating in artistic activities. In addition to films, I also have theatrical activities. This Tet holiday, I will not perform Tet plays like before because the New Smile Theatre no longer exists. Instead, I change the atmosphere by performing more in the provinces, doing comedy, and running shows in the regions. Although I have been in the profession for many years, this is the first time I have run a provincial show during Tet.

* When you perform, how do you receive and receive love from the audience?

- Performing in the provinces, I have the opportunity to meet colleagues and audiences. There were times when I performed in the Central region, it rained heavily but the audience still braved the rain, covered with tarps, even sat under tables to watch. At that moment, I was extremely moved. That feeling made me think I don't know when I can repay it all. Because the audience loves me, they come to watch, and if there is an audience, the show organizer will invite me to perform again.

* When you leave work, how is your joy in everyday life?

- I don't like noisy places like dance clubs, bars, coffee shops or alcohol..., but I can't quit smoking. Besides going to work or participating in drama rehearsals, I find joy in simple things like going to the fields, raising birds, fishing. Living close to nature helps me relax and recharge. For example, when I go fishing, I just need to focus on the buoy and I can put all my thoughts and worries aside. At that moment, my mind is completely at rest.

* Previously, there was information that artist Hoai Linh had cancer, how is his health now?

- After undergoing thyroid cancer treatment a few years ago, my health is now stable. The doctor encouraged me that thyroid cancer is a mild disease among cancers. After surgery and chemotherapy, I go back for a check-up every 3-6 months for monitoring. In addition, I take medication regularly to compensate for the thyroid after surgery.

As I get older, my health gets worse. Sometimes I have an irregular heartbeat, where every 3-4 beats I stop. Even though I am sick, when I am busy with work, I feel healthy, but when I sit still, I feel uncomfortable and tired.

Before, I was quite skinny, only about 52kg. Now, I maintain my weight at about 58kg. Actually, I don't pay much attention to health care. I rarely use functional foods because I find myself unable to persevere, while those things need to be used for a long time to be effective. I only eat three meals a day, mainly vegetables, braised fish, fish sauce... the regimen is almost unchanged.

* When you look back at the unhappy things that happened, what do you want to say?

- There are things I don't want to say, not that I don't know how to say them. But now there's no point in saying them. Of course I'm sad, what happened, many people brought up my parents, so how could I not be sad. It was my parents who advised me to keep quiet and let things pass.

* What helps you think more positively?

- I believe that each person has their own destiny. For example, at some point, we will have to face this or that. It could be fate, the arrangement of life, and we just need to try our best to overcome it.

Happy when there is still love from mother

* After the incident, it seems that artist Hoai Linh no longer uses social networks?

- I still use social networks, but only see it as positive information, ignoring the negative things. I think not only me but many people will have the same thought, if there were no negative things, social networks would be very useful. Thanks to social networks, I can learn more knowledge about special dishes, lifestyles, new cultures of people in different regions. Social networks have many good and valuable channels to watch, helping me to broaden my knowledge and learn more useful things. I always try to absorb new things so that I can apply them to my work and life.

* Why have you been absent from game shows lately?

- To be honest, most game shows nowadays are filmed in a cheerleading style, joking around in front of the audience. But at my age, if I joke around for anyone, the audience will find it hard to accept. So with game show invitations, I gradually restrain myself, will only participate in suitable programs, with preservation values, traditional national culture, folklore... But now, if you ask me to run and jump around, I cannot do it because it is not suitable.

* How do you spend time with your family and plan to celebrate Tet?

- Every year, before New Year's Eve, I would take care of housework and go back to Dong Nai to burn incense for my ancestors. After that, I would go back home to take care of the offerings, and at noon on the first day, I would start performing. This year, I started performing on the second day of the New Year until the fifth day, took a few days off, and then continued performing. In the past, there were still many theater venues, so I worked all the time, starting from 11am until midnight. During Tet, my simple pleasure is to come home in the evening to water the apricot tree, wake up in the morning to admire the flowers, eat, and then continue working.

* What is special about Meritorious Artist Hoai Linh's childhood Tet memories?

- I always remember clearly the memories of Tet holiday from my childhood, when my family was still in Dong Nai. At that time, having a new set of clothes to celebrate Tet was a luxury, especially for families with many children. So in those days, having a new set of clothes to wear during Tet and then saving them to wear to school was the happiest thing.

I was lucky to be born into a warm, loving family, my parents never argued. My paternal and maternal grandmothers lived together, and they considered each other as sisters. Although the family had many difficulties at that time, there was always a lot of love. My parents, despite their hardships, tried their best to take care of the family, every Tet there was a piece of meat, banh tet, coconut jam and watermelon seeds.

* What does the moment when family members gather together mean to you?

- Not only during Tet, my family has always been very close and tight. Like my recent birthday, everyone quietly surprised me with a cozy birthday party in Nha Trang. My mother, despite her advanced age, still traveled hundreds of kilometers to be present on her son's birthday. At that time, I felt nothing could be happier. I am nearly 60 years old, and I feel very lucky to still have my mother's love. Before, I was quite lethargic and often stayed at home. My mother also often scolded me and advised me to go out more. But now, I like to work so I am more comfortable and active.

* What do you wish for in 2025?

- My wish is to have more venues and stages to perform. I see that the audience does not abandon the artists, it is just that we do not have a place to welcome them. I believe that when we make a well-made product, the audience will definitely come to support. As for people's lives, I hope that in 2025 the economy will recover; from there, everyone will have better jobs, have conditions to develop, live more comfortably and happily.
