The Association of War Veterans of Muong Chanh commune promotes propaganda and mobilizes cadres and members to boldly apply scientific and technical advances in production; coordinates with specialized agencies, units and organizations to open training courses and guide members to choose plant and animal varieties suitable to local conditions, especially focusing on key crops such as coffee, fruit trees and commercial livestock.
Mr. Cam Van Thanh, Chairman of the Association of War Veterans in Muong Chanh Commune, said: The emulation movements "Exemplary war veterans in economic development" and "War veterans join hands to build new rural areas" have been actively responded to by members. Many branches have become the nucleus in transferring techniques, replicating effective economic models, creating motivation for members to rise out of poverty.
One of the highlights is that the Commune Veterans Association has promoted its role as a credit bridge. Through coordination with the Social Policy Bank, the Association has been entrusted to manage 22 billion VND for 400 households to borrow capital to develop production. It has directed the branches to maintain an internal fund of more than 460 million VND for members to borrow at preferential interest rates to invest in renovating mixed gardens, developing livestock and crops. Every month, the Association's staff and the bank check and supervise the use of capital, ensuring that the capital is used for the right purpose and brings practical results. Thanks to that, up to now, the Association has only 2 poor households and 6 near-poor households.
Mr. Lo Van Minh, Head of the May Village Association, said: The association has 45 members, with only one near-poor household remaining. The average income of members is about 58 million VND/year, mainly from agriculture and small production and business. Along with helping each other with capital and experience, the association also organizes thematic meetings to exchange effective models, aiming at developing sustainable and environmentally friendly production.
Veteran Van Diem in May village shared: His family has 3 hectares of coffee, with an output of about 6,000 tons of fresh fruit/year; built a drying factory of more than 1,000 m², with a capacity of 80 tons of fresh coffee/day. The family's facility specializes in purchasing from farmers, bringing them back to process and export coffee products to companies, bringing in a stable revenue of over 1.3 billion VND/year. In addition, it also creates regular jobs for 12-15 local workers, with an income of 12-14 million VND/month.
The Association of War Veterans of Muong Chanh commune also linked production activities with the movements "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas" and "Exemplary veterans" which were widely deployed. War Veterans Association members set good examples in building rural roads, maintaining environmental sanitation, actively participating in cultural and sports activities, contributing to building increasingly spacious and civilized new rural areas.
To improve the material and spiritual life of members, the Association of War Veterans in Muong Chanh commune continues to promote emulation movements, replicate effective production models, support members in accessing preferential capital sources, improve production capacity, and aim for sustainable poverty reduction.
