Former Georgian Prime Minister gives team 270 billion VND bonus after historic victory

Georgia made history by reaching the round of 16 of Euro 2024, in its first participation. To celebrate this great achievement, Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili (former Prime Minister of Georgia) decided to give the entire team a bonus of 8.4 million pounds (equivalent to 270.5 billion VND).

Businessman Ivanishvili is currently the richest man in Georgia. He served as Georgia's prime minister from 2012 to 2013.

Mr. Ivanishvili also announced that a similar bonus would be given if Georgia continued to surprise Spain in the round of 16. Thus, if they overcome La Roja, Georgia players will receive a total of 16.8 million pounds (equivalent to 540 billion VND). This is a huge number for the team's position.

In the final group stage match against Portugal, two goals from Kvaratskhelia and Georges Mikautadze helped the Georgian football team make history.

Not only did coach Willy Sagnol and his team pass the Euro group stage for the first time, they also indirectly pushed Portugal down to second place in Group F. This defeat forced Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates to fall into the "super bracket" with opponents Spain, Germany, France, and Belgium.

Coach Willy Sagnol's team had an emotional journey through the Euro 2024 group stage. Georgia started the campaign with a 1-3 loss to Türkiye. They then drew 1-1 with the Czech Republic. In the final round, Georgia defeated Portugal 2-0 in the early morning of June 27.
