The Phu Kieng bridge construction plan has been selected.

Accordingly, the organizing committee awarded the first prize to the plan of Traffic Construction Investment Consulting Joint Stock Company 1 (Dong Da District, Hanoi City). The company's plan was the winning architectural design plan, used to implement the design for the Phu Kieng bridge project. According to the leader of the Provincial Association of Architects, the first prize winning design plan of the Phu Kieng bridge project creates a highlight and contributes to enhancing the landscape value in the area. The highlight of the project is the tower pillar, which is designed with inspiration from the image of agarwood trees and agarwood buds. The top of the tower has the shape of a blooming agarwood bud; the cable system is designed softly around the agarwood bud, evoking a graceful beauty. The bridge surface is spacious, not only for vehicles but also integrates space for pedestrians with lookouts to stop and enjoy the beauty of nature. At the same time, the plan also arranges trees along both sides of the bridge to create shade, contributing to building a green, environmentally friendly city.

The Phu Kieng Bridge Construction Project is invested by the Nha Trang Construction Project Management Board, with a total capital of nearly 600 billion VND, of which the provincial budget is 70% and the city budget is 30%, implemented in the period of 2024 - 2027. The project's goal is to serve people's travel needs, develop infrastructure, connect traffic in the southern area with the northern area of the city, and develop urban areas.

Phu Kieng Bridge is built in reinforced concrete (class II urban bridge) with an expected length of 280m, a bridge width of 18m, of which the road surface for vehicles is 12m wide, the sidewalk on each side is 2m wide, the median strip is 2m wide. The bridge surface is paved with asphalt concrete, the lighting system is fully installed; the approach roads at both ends of the bridge are 20m wide. Up to now, the project has been appraised for investment policy, capital source and capital balancing ability according to current regulations.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Danh - Director of Nha Trang Construction Project Management Board said that currently, there are about 2,000 households living along the Cai River in the villages of Xuan Ngoc, Hon Nghe 1, Hon Nghe 2 of Vinh Ngoc commune who want to enter the commune center must go through Phu Kieng wooden bridge, which was installed by a local resident in 2001 and has a toll fee. However, over time, the wooden bridge has deteriorated, is not safe, and is often washed away during the rainy season. Therefore, after having an architectural plan, the management board will organize a geological survey, prepare a feasibility report, select a construction contractor, etc. If the procedures are favorable, the project will start construction at the end of October 2025 to meet the needs of people in the area and create a landscape for the city.

At the end of 2024, the Provincial Association of Architects organized an architectural competition for the Phu Kieng Bridge project. However, the organizing committee has not yet selected the optimal solution, so in early March 2025, the second competition will be held. The prize structure includes: 1 first prize worth 150 million VND; 1 second prize worth 100 million VND; 1 third prize worth 50 million VND and 2 consolation prizes, each worth 20 million VND.
In addition to the first prize, the organizing committee awarded the second prize to the consortium of T27 Consulting Joint Stock Company and Green Vision Design and Construction Consulting Company Limited (26A Ly Tu Trong, Loc Tho Ward, Nha Trang City); the third prize to VTCO Investment Company Limited (Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City); 2 consolation prizes to the consortium of CDAC Construction Architecture Design Consulting Company Limited - 625 Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company (Ward 4, Tuy Hoa City, Phu Yen Province) and the consortium of Southern Transport Design Consulting Joint Stock Company - Hoa Phong E&C Investment and Development Joint Stock Company (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City).
