Da Nang: Police rescue man buried in mud

On the afternoon of October 29, Mr. Le Minh Chien, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Tan Commune (Da Nang), said that local forces had just promptly rescued a resident whose body was half buried by a landslide.

Previously, at around 9am the same day, in Ngoc Giac village, Tra Tan commune, Mr. Nguyen The D (born in 1992, residing in Ngoc Giac village) was buried half of his body in a landslide. After discovering it, local forces and people dug up the rocks and soil to pull Mr. D up and then transferred him to the Commune Health Station for initial first aid.

After a preliminary examination, the doctors said that Mr. D likely had a broken arm, ribs, and some other injuries. Due to the complicated situation of floods and landslides in Tra Tan commune, the commune authorities are currently mobilizing vehicles to take Mr. D to Tra My Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Tra Tan commune leaders inspected the area of ​​landslides and flash floods.

11 households had their houses collapsed by landslide at Ong Thuong peak, Ngoc Giac village.

Tra Tan commune leaders visited and gave gifts to people affected by landslides in Ngoc Tu village.

Regarding the damage caused by floods in the area, Mr. Chien added that as of the afternoon of October 29, in Tra Giac village, rising river water caused landslides that collapsed 3 houses, and in Song Y village, one household had its house completely collapsed due to landslides.

In particular, in Ngoc Giac village, there were 2 roofs that were severely damaged in this flood, fortunately there were no human casualties. That was Ong Yen roof, on the evening of October 27, a terrible flash flood occurred, completely sweeping away 11 houses. And on Ong Thuong roof, a landslide also occurred, completely collapsing 11 houses of the people.

In addition, in Ngoc Tu village, Tra Tan commune, landslides have buried 6 houses. On the morning of October 29, 2 more houses in this village were buried by rocks and soil, with a high risk of being completely buried.

“According to preliminary statistics, there are more than 30 large and small landslides in the commune’s villages. The main road such as National Highway 40B has many serious landslides, the newly built road has also had many landslides, cutting off Song Y village, completely isolating the households living here… We only have preliminary information about the list of houses collapsed due to landslides and flash floods. Some points and villages cannot be connected yet, so the number of damaged houses may increase, the commune will continue to update,” Mr. Chien added.
