Da Nang affirms its role as a bridge in the relationship between Vietnam and Germany

In recent years, the cooperative relationship between Da Nang and German localities, organizations and enterprises has continuously expanded, improved in quality and had positive changes.

On the afternoon of September 23, the Union of Friendship Organizations of Da Nang City and the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Association of the city jointly organized the "Friendship exchange program to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations (September 23, 1975 - September 23, 2025)."

In his welcome speech, Chairman of the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Association of Da Nang City Nguyen Huu Lai said this is an extremely meaningful occasion to look back on the journey of building and developing the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries; affirming the determination to continue to foster and promote the good traditions in the fields of foreign affairs, trade, education , science, technology and people-to-people exchange...

In recent years, the cooperative relationship between Da Nang and German localities, organizations and enterprises has continuously expanded, improved in quality and had positive changes.

There are currently 28 German FDI projects registered for investment in Da Nang city with a total investment capital of about 671.4 million USD. German enterprises operate in many fields, typically: processing and manufacturing industry accounts for a large proportion.

Every year, the city welcomes many German business delegations to learn about the city's investment environment.

In the first 8 months of 2025, the total number of German visitors to Da Nang city reached more than 127,000, ranking in the top 15 tourist market share to Da Nang.

Many German non-governmental organizations such as Malteser International, German Association for the Relief of Leprosy and Tuberculosis (DAHW), German Red Cross, Herz Fur Herz (Heart for Heart), BORDA, FZS, German Caritas... have actively supported and contributed to the community in Da Nang in the fields of health, education, community health care, and support for poor women.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Andrea Maria Suhl, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City, said that the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany is not only an occasion to review the past, but also a first step towards a promising future. Vietnam-Germany economic relations have developed very dynamically. Today, Germany is one of Vietnam's most important trade partners and a major investor.

Ms. Andrea Maria Suhl hopes that in the coming time, the two sides will work together to continue strengthening the friendship and partnership, for the benefit of both countries and for a peaceful and sustainable future.

At the program, on behalf of the leaders of the City People's Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi presented a beautiful flower basket and best wishes to German friends.

After the ceremony, there was a roundtable discussion with the theme “Vietnam-Germany: 50 years of friendly cooperation and new opportunities in people-to-people, economic and cultural exchange” with the participation of Ms. Andrea Maria Suhl, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh, Chairman of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Da Nang City and invited delegates.

The seminar focused on the role of people-to-people diplomacy in strengthening relations between the two countries; the potential to promote trade and investment cooperation between Da Nang and German partners; local businesses' experience in practical cooperation...

The program affirmed that Da Nang is not only a dynamic and livable city but also a reliable and suitable cooperation destination to expand the Vietnam-Germany friendship in the new period.

Through the program, the city hopes to promote its image and expand cooperation with German organizations, businesses and communities, actively contributing to the 50-year friendship and the next stages./.
