Dak Lak: No unusual flood discharge from irrigation reservoirs

To proactively respond to storm No. 13, Dak Lak Irrigation Works Management Company Limited directed specialized departments and affiliated branches to regularly update and monitor weather developments to operate and regulate reservoirs accordingly.

Information from Dak Lak Irrigation Works Management Company Limited said that the unit currently has 9 reservoirs operating to regulate the spillway according to the process approved by the Provincial People's Committee, including: Ea H'leo 1, Krong Buk Ha, Vu Bon, Ea Rot, Krong Pach Thuong, Buon Joong, Ea Sup Thuong, Ea Sup Ha, Ea Kao.

To proactively respond to storm No. 13, the company has established 4 working groups to inspect the actual works; directed specialized departments and affiliated branches to regularly update and monitor weather developments to operate and regulate reservoirs accordingly.

When there are floods, branches arrange personnel to be on duty at the construction site 24/7 to be ready to handle any situations that may arise, and to follow the reporting regime as prescribed, especially for key projects, projects with sufficient water storage, and inter-reservoir projects.

For reservoirs with flood control gates, especially reservoirs with operating procedures, strictly implement the operation and regulation according to the approved procedures. Before opening the spillway or increasing the discharge flow through the spillway, the branches notify the local authorities and relevant units to widely inform the people in the downstream area, ensuring no unusual flood discharge. During the time of opening the spillway, regularly check the downstream area of ​​the project, monitor the flow to the reservoir to adjust the discharge flow accordingly.

The project management and operation unit will also proactively coordinate with local authorities, ready to implement disaster response plans when heavy rains and floods occur.

For reservoirs with inter-reservoir operation procedures on the Serepok River basin (Krong Buk Ha reservoir, Ea Rot reservoir), in addition to following the reservoir operation procedures, the regulations in the inter-reservoir operation procedures must be strictly followed.

Of the 253 reservoirs the company is managing, 183 have reached normal water levels, 60 are at 70 to below 90%, 7 are at 50 to below 70%, and 3 are at below 50%.
