On the evening of November 22, in Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province held a ceremony to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the province's founding, in conjunction with activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, the 84th anniversary of the founding of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee and towards the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam ; 50 years of the Buon Ma Thuot Victory, the liberation of Dak Lak Province.
At the ceremony, Dak Lak Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dinh Trung said that since its establishment, Dak Lak has gone through many stages of transformation and development along with the nation's history. In particular, during the nation's long resistance wars, the ethnic minorities of Dak Lak contributed their manpower and resources, fought bravely, and sacrificed their lives in bombs and bullets, including more than 9,500 martyrs, more than 7,600 wounded soldiers; 641 mothers were awarded the title of Vietnamese Heroic Mother; dozens of collectives and individuals were awarded the title of Hero of the Armed Forces.
After 120 years of establishment and development, Dak Lak has now become a fairly large province in the Central Highlands region; with a natural area and population among the top provinces and cities in the country; with the largest area and output of coffee, pepper, and durian in the country; and is an important traffic hub in the Central Highlands. The province's economy maintains a fairly high growth rate; the value of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) ranks first in the Central Highlands region.
In the period of 2021 - 2023, the average economic growth will reach 7%/year, the economic scale will increasingly expand; the average GRDP per capita in 2024 is estimated to reach nearly 75 million VND. The structure of economic sectors has shifted positively, gradually reducing the proportion of agriculture and gradually increasing the proportion of services, industry - construction; the agricultural sector is restructured towards high added value and sustainable development; the appearance of the province has many positive changes.
Culture and society have made much progress, social security has been ensured; people's material and spiritual lives have been improved, especially in remote areas and ethnic minority areas.
Party building and political system building have always received attention; the organization and operation of the administrative apparatus have been gradually innovated towards streamlining and effective and efficient operations; national defense and security have been strengthened and maintained, the country's borders have been firmly protected; international cooperation and regional connectivity have been effectively promoted.
In recognition and praise of the outstanding achievements of the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Dak Lak province, the Party and State have awarded the province many noble awards, such as: Title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces", Gold Star Order, Ho Chi Minh Order and many other noble awards.
With a rich and heroic tradition of 120 years of history, with the current political and social position, especially with a longer-term vision in the development process of the province following the Party's innovation policy, the entire Party Committee, government, army and people of all ethnic groups in Dak Lak province will continue to foster revolutionary traditions and patriotism; cherish and preserve the achievements that previous generations have worked hard to cultivate; unite, join hands, strive to overcome difficulties and challenges, determined to build Dak Lak province to develop rapidly, sustainably, increasingly rich, civilized and unique; contribute to creating a solid foundation with the whole country to enter a new era - the era of development of the Vietnamese nation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh emphasized: During the 120-year journey of formation, construction and development, from a wild, poor, backward land, with only "sun and wind", Dak Lak today has transformed, grown strongly, with socio-economic development, and the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities in the province has been improved.
The Deputy Prime Minister directed that in the coming time, in order to strive for sustainable development, worthy of the central position and main driving force of the Central Highlands region, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups of Dak Lak province should continue to closely follow the direction of the Central Committee, concretize the goals and tasks stated in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the 17th Dak Lak Provincial Party Congress; especially Conclusion No. 67 of the Politburo on the construction and development of Buon Ma Thuot City; Resolution No. 23 of the Politburo on the direction of socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the Central Highlands region; Resolution No. 72 of the National Assembly on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Buon Ma Thuot City and Decision No. 1747 of the Prime Minister approving the planning of Dak Lak province aim to seize every opportunity, overcome all difficulties and challenges, mobilize the participation of the entire political system and the people of the province, and strive to achieve the goal that by 2050 Dak Lak will "become a province with ecological space, identity, creative connections, and be a favorite and livable destination".
