According to statistics from the Huu Lung Regional Forest Protection Department, there are currently 710 forestry seedling production facilities in the area, accounting for 90.1% of the total number of facilities in the province. Since October, facilities in the area have been actively focusing on taking care of nurseries to ensure the quality of seedlings, meeting the needs of the 2026 forest planting season.
In Tuan Son commune, the commune with the largest number of forestry seedling production facilities in the province with nearly 500 facilities, the planting of seedlings is being carried out by households. In particular, the majority of households in the commune are planting acacia seedlings.
Ms. Bui Thi Thao, Cooc Mo village, Tuan Son commune said: My family has planted about 400,000 acacia trees. To ensure the quality of the seedlings, the family uses all the seeds from facilities recognized by the authorities for the source of seeds. This year, the family mainly planted acacia varieties such as BV-523, BV-16 and AH1 because these varieties have the ability to grow well in cold weather conditions. Acacia trees are very susceptible to fungus this season, so from soil preparation to care, the family carefully follows the technical process to increase the survival rate and resistance of the seedlings when they leave the garden.
In Huu Lung commune, there are more than 200 active tree nurseries, including households and businesses. As one of the largest forestry seedling production facilities in the commune, the Dong Bac Forestry Company Limited's Forestry Seedling Station has proactively sowed and grown a large number of seedlings.
Ms. Lam Thi Loan, an employee in charge of seedling production at the facility, said: During the recent storm No. 11, over 50,000 seedlings of the facility were flooded and damaged. To ensure timely supply of seedlings to the market, since the beginning of November 2025, the facility has sown more than 200,000 acacia trees and 200,000 eucalyptus trees. In December, we will continue to sow about 300,000 trees of various types. It is expected that from February to April 2026, when the forest planting season begins, the facility's seedlings will be gradually sold.
Along with the above two establishments, through our survey of some nurseries in Tuan Son and Huu Lung communes, basically, the establishments carry out the forestry seedling production process relatively systematically. Accordingly, the establishments select seed sources with clear records and origins. At the same time, the planting and tree care process of the establishments is recorded to serve the purpose of monitoring the growth and development status.
According to the assessment of the Huu Lung Regional Forest Protection Department, in 2025, due to the impact of storm No. 11, a number of nurseries and cuttings gardens in the area were affected. Therefore, according to the unit's forecast, the number of seedlings serving the market in early 2026 will likely decrease by about 20-30% compared to previous years. Therefore, in order to contribute to ensuring the quantity and quality of seedlings when leaving the garden, along with focusing on the care of the people, since the beginning of November until now, the Regional Forest Protection Department has deployed many solutions to monitor the activities of the facilities.
Accordingly, the Huu Lung Regional Forest Protection Department inspected nearly 100 facilities regarding production processes, seed source selection, etc. At the same time, the unit also proactively integrated propaganda to facility owners and people during the inspection process.
Mr. Hua Van Tam, Deputy Head of the Huu Lung Regional Forest Protection Department, said: In addition to inspecting the above facilities according to the periodic plan, the unit also thoroughly instructed the local forest rangers to regularly monitor the activities of nurseries. At the same time, continue to coordinate with related units to propagate to facility owners to strictly comply with the provisions of law in forestry seed production.
Currently, the source of forestry seedlings in the province is mainly supplied from facilities in the old Huu Lung district. The initiative of forestry seed production facilities and the close inspection and supervision of the authorities are important factors to ensure the quantity and quality of seedlings for the upcoming forest planting season.
