In recent times, the management and protection of road traffic safety corridors have been given priority by relevant departments, levels, and units in the province, creating positive changes. Restoring order to roadways, sidewalks, and traffic corridors has contributed to raising awareness and promoting voluntary compliance with traffic laws among the people.
Authorities are deploying forces to ensure traffic safety corridors in Huong Non commune, Tam Nong district.
According to our investigation, the communes of Huong Non, Van Xuan, Dan Quyen, and the town of Hung Hoa... in Tam Nong district are all located along National Highways 32 and 32C. Therefore, in addition to the advantages in socio -economic development, ensuring order and safety along the road corridor still faces many difficulties. Major Tran Huu Dung - Traffic Police Team, Tam Nong District Police, informed: Along with propaganda, through monitoring the route and area and patrolling to ensure traffic safety, the Traffic Police Team has found that on National Highway 32 in Huong Non commune, there are many restaurants and shops selling goods, but they have not properly guided, managed, or arranged parking areas for customers. This leads to vehicles, especially cars, stopping and parking illegally, posing a potential risk to traffic safety. Therefore, the District Police, in coordination with the People's Committee of Huong Non commune, organized a conference to sign commitments to ensure traffic safety with representatives of 9 shops and restaurants. They also coordinated with local authorities and relevant forces to clear the traffic safety corridor on National Highways 32 and 32C in Van Xuan and Huong Non communes, and on district roads DH 77 and DH 78 in Hung Hoa town.
Currently, most roads in the province are mixed two-way traffic, making them narrow and causing congestion during peak hours. Furthermore, the awareness of some people remains low, and violations of road safety corridors continue to occur, posing a risk of accidents if there is no reminder, enforcement, and intensified public awareness campaigns from relevant agencies and units. In 2024, the Provincial Road Safety Committee and its member agencies developed a plan to disseminate and educate the public on laws regarding road safety corridors. The Department of Transport directed the Department's Inspectorate and the Project Management Board for Construction and Maintenance of Transport Infrastructure to closely coordinate with local authorities at the district and commune levels, as well as relevant agencies, in the work of raising awareness, preventing, and clearing violations encroaching on road safety corridors.
In just 9 months, 115 tents, stalls, and shelters were dismantled and relocated, along with 224 advertising signs. 65 cubic meters of construction materials were removed, 134 mobile stalls were moved, and 335 trees obstructing visibility were trimmed. Furthermore, measures were taken to prevent and suspend construction, and close coordination with relevant agencies was implemented to handle cases of illegal connections, land leveling, etc., that occurred without construction permits or in violation of permits.
With national highways running through the area, the number of vehicles participating in road traffic is increasing, especially during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year). Local police forces are stepping up propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage people and organizations to comply with traffic safety regulations; coordinating with political and social organizations in disseminating and educating people on traffic safety laws through various forms to build a safe traffic culture for everyone. They are also continuing to review businesses and restaurants in the area, coordinating with the District Traffic Safety Committee and the authorities of communes and towns to organize business owners to sign pledges to comply with traffic safety regulations; and directing traffic police and commune/town police to strengthen inspections and strictly handle violations, contributing to ensuring traffic safety.
The Provincial Traffic Safety Committee will continue to implement the plan to ensure traffic safety for the period 2021-2025; improve, innovate, integrate, and concretize the content and form of propaganda to raise people's legal awareness regarding ensuring traffic safety corridors. It will effectively coordinate with the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, relevant departments, mass organizations, and socio-political organizations in disseminating information and mobilizing the public to ensure traffic safety, striving to minimize traffic accidents in the province in all three criteria: number of incidents, number of deaths, and number of injuries.
