According to VNA reporters at major markets such as Han, Con, and Dong Da, basic goods are abundant. However, some fresh food and vegetable prices have fluctuated due to the supply from the suburbs being affected by heavy rains. Dried goods, meat, fish, eggs, instant noodles, rice, drinking water, etc. are still fully supplied, serving people's shopping needs before the storm.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu (a vegetable trader at Dong Da market) said that in recent days, due to continuous rain and floods, the supply of vegetables from Hoa Vang and neighboring provinces to the market has decreased, so prices have increased slightly. Compared to normal days, most items have increased by about 5%, with green vegetables such as mustard greens, spinach, and lettuce increasing by 10 to 15%. This is a temporary increase because the supply is low due to rain and floods, not because of hoarding.
On November 6, the market was busier than usual as many people rushed to shop and stock up on food before the storm hit. Stalls selling vegetables, meat and fish were always crowded, especially essential goods. Although supplies were still abundant, transportation was difficult due to continuous heavy rain, causing import costs to increase, leading to retail prices of some items to increase.
Ms. Tran Thanh Hoa (living in Hai Chau ward) shared that the price of vegetables has increased significantly in the past two days. Previously, a bunch of water spinach was only about ten thousand dong, now it is more than 20 thousand. Although the price has increased, in general, goods are still abundant, not to the point of scarcity, so I still buy enough for the whole family to use for a few days.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thu - Head of Dong Da Market Management Board, the unit has coordinated with suppliers to ensure stable circulation of goods in all situations. The market management board regularly updates weather conditions, proactively works with traders, transport companies and transport units to promptly import goods, especially fresh food. The city also directs against excessive price increases or hoarding of goods, ensuring people's peace of mind during stormy days.
Along with the initiative of traders and market management units, supermarkets, shopping malls, and convenience stores in the city have also increased their stock of essential goods, extending sales hours to serve people. The Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade affirmed that it will continue to closely monitor price developments and regulate supply appropriately to ensure market stability.
Thanks to the proactive intervention of the government, market management forces and suppliers, the supply of goods in Da Nang is still guaranteed to be stable, helping people feel secure and proactively respond to storm No. 13, avoiding shortages of food and essential foodstuffs in any situation.
