Hero of the People's Armed Forces Vo Thi Sau was born in 1933. In 1947, when she was only 14 years old, she was a scout of the Dat Do Volunteer Police Team, performing liaison and supply duties. In February 1950, Sau was assigned to throw a grenade to kill two French colonial informants but was unfortunately captured. She was taken to Dat Do, Ba Ria and Chi Hoa prisons for interrogation and detention.
In April 1950, France opened a trial and sentenced her to "death" when she was under 18 years old. This sentence shocked public opinion, causing strong protests in both Vietnam and France. Therefore, the French military government could not publicly execute the sentence and continued to imprison her. After that, they took Ms. Sau to Con Dao for execution on January 23, 1952.
In 1993, Ms. Vo Thi Sau was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the President . The image of loyalty, indomitability, and noble qualities of the daughter of Dat Do has become a symbol for future generations to follow.
