People who live with integrity and honor are loyal and righteous. That is the moral foundation of a true person. For members of the Communist Party of Vietnam, integrity and honor must always be respected.
A pure heart, shining forever
Currently, our country has more than 5.3 million party members. As the ruling party, since its inception, our Party has led the people to overthrow the colonial and feudal regimes, establish the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, drive out the French colonialists and American imperialists, bring peace to the country, carry out the cause of national renewal, and make the people have a prosperous and happy life.
Before every major national event, residential areas in Ha Tinh are always filled with national flags and Party flags.
The strength and longevity of the Party lies in the patriotism, love for the people, political qualities, ethics and talents of its members. For the honor and prestige of the Party, tens of thousands of Party members had to endure the enemy's torture, taste the bitterness, hunger, cold, physical pain and mental torment. Many loyal Party members bravely went to the execution ground, not afraid of the enemy's guns with the iron belief that victory belongs to the patriots. Those generations of people put the honor of the Party and the trust of the People above all else. As comrade Hoang Van Thu - Member of the Central Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the Northern Party Committee, before going to the execution ground in 1944, said:
The affairs of the country have always had success and failure.
As long as I can keep my reputation intact
Revenge, great ambition never discouraged
Better a broken jade than a whole tile
Though the body is in prison and in danger
Chi also followed the show.
Friends, near and far, fight hard!
Always keep your heart sincere!
In times of peace, millions of cadres and party members across the country, in all sectors, professions, and socio-political organizations, have not been afraid of hardships and difficulties, wholeheartedly serving the People, overcoming many daily difficulties and material temptations, “worrying about the worries of the people first, and being happy after the happiness of the people”. With their hands and minds, party members have led the People to join hands to build a prosperous and happy life, making the country and homeland innovate, prosperous and developed. They always put the interests of the Party, the country, and the People first and foremost, always valuing the honor of party members. For the prestige and honor of the Party, for the cause of national liberation and national construction, many generations of cadres and party members have “kept their reputation intact”:
Live with the Party, die without leaving the Party
A pure heart shines forever
The sun is sometimes cloudy
My heart is still red with fresh blood!
(To Huu)
However, at present, there are a number of cadres and party members, especially those in positions of power, who have disregarded the prestige of the Party, lost the honor of party members, rushed into the whirlwind of fame, profit, money, using the honor and prestige of the Party organization as a "cover" and "glaze" for their personal gain. More seriously, many people have violated what party members are not allowed to do, violated the law, causing significant damage to the State and the People. The number of party members from the Central to the provincial and municipal levels who have been disciplined and prosecuted in recent years reflects this reality.

During his lifetime, Uncle Ho repeatedly emphasized: “Cadres are the root of all work”. He advised cadres and party members, especially leaders, to respect honor and maintain integrity: “Not for personal fame, but for the common interests of the Party, the nation, and humanity”. Before passing away, he also earnestly advised: “Our Party is a ruling party. Each party member and cadre must truly be imbued with revolutionary ethics, truly diligent, frugal, honest, upright, impartial and selfless. We must keep our Party truly clean”.
At the conference to review 5 years of implementing Directive 05-CT/TW of the Politburo on: "Promoting studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle" (June 2021), General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized: One of the ways to study and follow Uncle Ho is to maintain integrity, honor, purity and clarity. Because integrity is the foundation of human morality.
At the national conference summarizing the work of organizing party congresses at all levels for the 2020-2025 term on November 19, 2020, the General Secretary also explained and promoted integrity and honor, the most noble things in life. He quoted the words of Pavel Korshagin, a character in the work “How the Steel Was Tempered” by Nikolai Sergeyevich Ostrovski, and related and reminded cadres and party members: “The most precious thing for a person is life and the honor of living, because a person only lives once. Therefore, we must live so as not to feel pain or regret for the years we have lived in vain, wasted, so as not to be ashamed of mean, cowardly, infamous actions, and people's contempt. So that when we close our eyes, we can be proud that: I have lived a useful life, have devoted all my life, all my strength to the most noble cause in the world, for the glory of the Fatherland, of the Party, for the happiness of the People, of humanity; so that our descendants will forever be grateful, respect, learn from and follow”.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong gave a speech at the national online conference to review 5 years of implementing Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the 12th Politburo, deploying Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW of the 13th Politburo on continuing to implement Directive No. 05-CT/TW "On promoting studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle".
On June 30, 2022, at the national conference summarizing 10 years of anti-corruption and anti-negativity work, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong continued to point out: "Cadres and party members, first of all leaders, must know how to respect integrity, maintain honor, and feel ashamed when they or their relatives commit acts of corruption and negativity."
The honor and prestige of Party members play a role in ensuring the survival of the Party. Each Party member who is loyal, dedicated, and maintains his or her prestige contributes to preserving the Party's prestige and enhancing the Party's leadership and fighting capacity. Only when each Party member maintains his or her reputation can the Party be clean.
Awaken and be alert
Faced with the reality that a number of cadres and party members have lost all honor and self-respect, "confused" between the assigned position and the benefits they have obtained, allowing their relatives and family members to act arbitrarily, exploit, and exploit, benefiting groups, paralyzing the democratic spirit, and seriously reducing the Party's prestige, the Party Central Committee, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, has strengthened the work of inspection, supervision, and enforcement of Party discipline with the principles: "No forbidden zones, no exceptions", with the atmosphere: "When the furnace is hot, fresh wood must burn" and the spirit of "determination and perseverance". The Party's anti-corruption campaign has been carried out resolutely, bringing about many results, receiving the support of cadres, party members, and the majority of the people, and being praised by international friends. The concept of "burning the furnace" has been mentioned a lot by domestic and international media. This is an awakening and warning for all cadres and party members.
Many people who have “dipped their hands in the mud” when they are caught up in the law, only to look back and feel heartbroken and regretful. There have been high-ranking officials who have stood before the bar to express their remorse and repentance, admitting all their shortcomings and mistakes that have damaged the prestige and honor of the Party. Their lessons have awakened not only one person but also tens of thousands of other officials and Party members: we must always put the honor of the Party above all else.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Head of the Steering Committee, chaired the 24th meeting of the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption and anti-negativity to discuss and give opinions on the results of the Steering Committee's activities in the first 6 months of 2023 and the work of anti-corruption and anti-negativity since the beginning of the 13th Party Congress term.
The results of the fight against corruption also help to awaken many cadres and party members who have not yet "dipped their toes" to stay away from the trap of power and fame, to self-reflect and correct themselves, to properly implement the Party's regulations on what party members are not allowed to do, to respect the law, to promote democracy, to issue a mechanism to control power to clean up the Party and the State apparatus, to ensure discipline and the law, for the noble goal of serving the people, for the survival of the regime and the development of the country.
For a tree to grow, in addition to good seeds, daily care and cultivation, it must also kill pests and cut off withered branches. For a body to be healthy, in addition to eating nutritious food and exercising daily, it must also detect and treat diseases early, not allowing them to become incurable. The same goes for the Party organization. In addition to constantly taking care of political and ideological education, ethics, and lifestyle, arousing patriotism, fighting spirit, and pioneering spirit of Party members, it must also carry out daily inspection, supervision, and enforcement of Party discipline, early detection of signs of corruption, negativity, self-evolution, and self-transformation within the Party, fighting, preventing, and repelling these "diseases" from spreading into serious illnesses, endangering the survival of the Party.
The prestige and honor of party members are extremely important in educating the younger generation (illustrative photo).
The Party's fight against corruption and negativity not only helps Party members preserve their personal reputation and honor and the reputation and honor of the Party, ensuring discipline and law, but also serves as a warning and awakening, helping Party members avoid falling into the quagmire of moral degradation, helping each person live a clean and honest life, preserving a noble reputation, and also maintaining human morality.
