On February 13, transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Inter Miami had completed the purchase of 21-year-old midfielder Federico Redondo for $8 million to play alongside the famous player Messi. However, the deal ran into problems because Inter Miami could not pay the full transfer fee to Argentinos Juniors due to financial regulations of the MLS (USA). Therefore, Mr. David Beckham had to intervene.
Inter Miami Club President, Mr. David Beckham
According to MLS Moves : "David Beckham and his associates at Inter Miami are actively negotiating with Argentinos Juniors to reach an agreement on the payment of the transfer fee for Federico Redondo.
Perhaps, Mr. David Beckham will solve this problem easily by turning Federico Redondo into a transfer for the youth team (U.22), paying a fee of only 5 million USD in accordance with the financial regulations of the MLS, before paying the remaining amount next season. Federico Redondo will still be able to play for the first team as a promotion from the youth team".
"This plan is considered likely to convince Argentinos Juniors, the club that owns player Federico Redondo. Today (February 17), the parties will continue to have a meeting to discuss payment terms.
Therefore, this deal has not yet collapsed as recent news suggests. But everything will be decided in the next few hours, whether it will be done or not," said journalist Gaston Edul of TyC Sports channel (Argentina).
Mr. David Beckham really wants Federico Redondo, a player who is also playing for the Argentina U.23 team.
According to Goal : "David Beckham really wants Federico Redondo to strengthen Inter Miami right before the 2024 MLS season starts. The son of former player Fernando Redondo is considered a replacement or will rotate with player Sergio Busquets in the Inter Miami squad. Busquets is currently injured, so the deal to recruit Federico Redondo needs to be resolved as soon as possible."
