At noon on October 27, the Phong Dien Ward Police, Hue City, along with other functional forces, successfully rescued six people who were clearing forest and were trapped at Khe Cat, on Road 71 leading to the Rao Trang hydroelectric plant.

On the same day, Colonel Phan Thang, Commander of the Hue City Military Command, stated that rescue forces confirmed that the cargo ship Thai Ha 8888, carrying 5,900 tons of cement from Nghi Son port (Thanh Hoa) to Van Phong port (Khanh Hoa), had sunk off the coast of Lang Co town (Hue City), about 2km from Hon Son Cha island.
The accident occurred around 3:00 AM on October 27th, when the sea was extremely rough, causing the ship to sink. There were 8 crew members on board. Captain Nguyen Van Dong and all the crew members put on life jackets, left the ship in two lifeboats, and were rescued by the LONG SON 38 vessel, which safely brought them to Da Nang at 6:00 AM the same day.
According to initial information, before leaving the ship, the captain did not have time to close the valve on 15,000 liters of diesel fuel, so authorities are monitoring the risk of fuel leakage to take environmental response measures if necessary.
Currently, authorities in Hue City, in coordination with the Border Guard and the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region II (Da Nang), are working to locate the sunken ship, assess the scene, and implement salvage plans and prevent oil spills.

* The Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center has announced a temporary suspension of visitor access to all attractions within the Hue Imperial Citadel complex, effective from 11:30 AM on October 27th, due to the complex flooding situation.
