On the afternoon of October 27, Phong Dien Ward Police, Hue City, and other functional forces successfully rescued 6 people who were clearing forests and were stuck at Khe Cat, Road 71 to Rao Trang Hydropower Plant.

On the same day, Colonel Phan Thang, Commander of the Hue City Military Command, said that rescue forces confirmed that the cargo ship Thai Ha 8888, carrying 5,900 tons of cement from Nghi Son port (Thanh Hoa) to Van Phong port (Khanh Hoa), sank off the coast of Lang Co town (Hue City), about 2km from Hon Son Cha.
At the time of the accident at around 3am on October 27, the sea was so rough that the ship sank, with 8 crew members on board. Captain Nguyen Van Dong and all crew members put on life jackets, left the ship in 2 lifeboats and were assisted by the LONG SON 38 ship to safely arrive in Da Nang at 6am the same day.
According to initial information, before leaving the ship, the captain had not yet closed the valve to shut off 15,000 liters of DO oil, so authorities are monitoring the risk of fuel leakage to take environmental response measures if necessary.
Currently, Hue City authorities are coordinating with the Border Guard and the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region II (Da Nang) to determine the location of the sunken ship, assess the scene and deploy salvage plans to prevent oil spills.

* The Hue Monuments Conservation Center has announced a temporary suspension of receiving visitors at all tourist attractions in the Hue Monuments Complex, starting at 11:30 a.m. on October 27 due to the complicated flooding situation.
