Briefly reporting to the delegation at the scene, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board Nguyen Hoang Anh Dung said that the project is currently facing many difficulties related to the construction site, greatly affecting the progress of implementation along the entire route.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh Dung, the project is divided into 3 construction packages (XL-01, XL-02, XL-03). Currently, the site clearance compensation work has not been completed in many areas.
Specifically, with the XL-03 package (An Nhon ward), the site is still “leopard skin” and lacks connectivity throughout the route. In particular, Van Lang University has not yet approved the investor to start construction, causing disruptions to the plan. In Binh Loi Trung ward, there are still 20 households in the project of Tan Thuan Company that have not been compensated, directly affecting the construction progress. For the XL-01 and XL-02 packages, the site has not been handed over, leading to the inability to carry out any construction items.

The Management Board of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project requested the Compensation and Site Clearance Board of An Nhon Ward to urgently hand over the entire site of the XL-03 package this August to implement construction items. The Department of Agriculture and Environment and the People's Committee of An Nhon Ward must completely resolve the request of Van Lang University, ensuring the site is handed over to the investor before August 10.
At the survey, Vice Chairman Bui Xuan Cuong emphasized that the Xuyen Tam Canal Renovation Project is an urgent project and has great significance in improving the environment, traffic, and urban landscape, so removing bottlenecks in land clearance requires the synchronous participation of departments, branches, and localities.

The Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee directed the Department of Agriculture and Environment to promptly complete a detailed report on the entire site clearance work. It clearly states the existing difficulties and problems; clearly identifies the authority of each relevant unit; and proposes specific solutions to resolve them and ensure the project's construction progress.
The Xuyen Tam Canal Improvement Project is one of the key projects of Ho Chi Minh City in the sustainable urban development strategy, contributing to improving environmental quality, preventing flooding, developing traffic infrastructure, green space and improving people's quality of life.
Xuyen Tam Canal Project is 8,865m long (including the main route and 3 branch routes). Implementing dredging items, building anti-erosion embankments, drainage systems, roads on both sides of the canal, parks, green areas and improving the living environment for people from Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe canal to Vam Thuat river in An Nhon, Binh Loi Trung, Binh Thanh and Gia Dinh wards.
