Project 939 promotes Duc Linh women to start businesses

Entrepreneurship is not only an economic development trend but also the key to solving social problems, reducing gender inequality and promoting comprehensive community development. After 8 years (2018 - 2025) of implementing Project 939 "Supporting women to start a business in the period 2017 - 2025" in Duc Linh district, it has helped women confidently develop their capacity, participate deeply in economic and social activities and achieve remarkable achievements.

Immediately after the Project "Supporting Women to Start a Business in the 2017 - 2025 Period" (Project 939 for short) was deployed by the Provincial Women's Union, the Duc Linh District Women's Union developed an implementation plan and widely disseminated it to the Union's branches and members. This includes many activities such as organizing the annual Women's Start-up Day, supporting the improvement of the quality of cooperatives and cooperatives owned by women, connecting to introduce products, promote trade through mass media channels, display products, organize training, vocational training, etc.

During the period of 2018 - 2025, the Union at all levels surveyed 280 ideas, from which 144 ideas were selected to register for startups and start businesses and sent to the province. The evaluation results showed 47 ideas to participate in the district, provincial and central level competitions. Notably in 2024, the idea of ​​"Producing instant seasoning powder from rice flour base" by Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Anh won third prize in the Women's Creative Startup and Green Transformation Competition organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union.

In addition, thousands of women in the district have access to training programs, guidance on entrepreneurial skills, consulting on developing business models for raising chickens, caring for cashew and durian trees, growing safe vegetables, preventing pests and diseases, and developing high-quality rice varieties. This not only helps them overcome cognitive barriers but also awakens their creative potential, promoting a spirit of autonomy in economic development.

Ms. Vo Thi Ngoc Mai - President of the Women's Union of Duc Linh district, said: Along with encouraging members and women to boldly start a business, vocational training and job introduction are always of interest to the district. In 8 years, the Union has coordinated to open 22 vocational training classes with 437 students. Thereby, introducing women to participate in family services, assembling stuffed animals, making handicrafts, making false eyelashes, sewing blankets, making candy, weaving chairs, peeling cashews... At the same time, mobilizing internal capital from women's union members with a total budget of 761 million to help 55 women borrow to develop their family economy. In addition, mobilizing support of nearly 70 million VND to help 5 poor women rise up.

Project 939 has brought many positive values ​​to women, creating proactiveness, sensitivity, sharing, and connection in business. When many cooperatives and cooperatives in Tra Tan, Duc Tin, Dong Ha, Sung Nhon, and Vu Hoa communes connect with companies and enterprises in Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Khanh Hoa, Ca Mau, and Ho Chi Minh City provinces, etc., they consume safe vegetable products, purchase agricultural products, handicrafts, promote stone embroidery products for women with disabilities, and consume rice paper, lotus seeds, and peanuts.

The achievements in the recent period are clear evidence of the potential and creativity of women in Duc Linh. True to the message that starting a business does not necessarily have to start with great things, but often comes from concerns and new ideas to solve the problem of making a living, starting a business or improving technology to increase productivity and product value in the production and business process. With that spirit, members and local women have been affirming their position in the fields of trade, services, biotechnology, green, clean, environmentally friendly products, bringing benefits to women, families, communities and affirming their role in socio-economic development.
