Promoting innovation in thinking, strengthening discipline, building a clean and strong Party

Looking forward to the 14th National Congress of the Party, many cadres, party members and people of Dong Thap province have paid attention, discussed and contributed to the draft documents to be submitted to the 14th National Congress of the Party.

Party member Doan Van Tho, former Chairman of the People's Committee of the former Tan Phu Dong district (now Tan Phu Dong commune, Dong Thap province) said that the content of the draft document was carefully and specifically prepared, accurately reflecting the country's development situation in the past 5 years and after 40 years of renovation.

Mr. Tho emphasized that the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress took place in the context of a world with many rapid, complex and unpredictable changes; challenges related to epidemics, natural disasters, climate change, economic competition and the fourth industrial revolution were taking place strongly. However, with the will, aspiration for development, spirit of solidarity and high determination, the entire Party, people and army have achieved many important and comprehensive achievements, with many outstanding bright spots.

In terms of economy, the implementation of three strategic breakthroughs has achieved many remarkable results; the work of resource management, environmental protection and climate change adaptation has had positive changes. The GDP scale in 2025 is estimated at 510 billion USD, an increase of 1.48 times compared to 2020; GDP per capita is about 5,000 USD; average income per capita is about 4,700 USD, putting Vietnam in the group of upper middle-income countries. The economic structure has shifted in the right direction, many new production and business models have been formed, creating favorable conditions for the development of productive forces. Mechanisms and policies for private economic development have been strongly innovated; economic zones, industries, and tourism associated with coastal urban chains have been formed and developed rapidly. The synchronous, focused and key implementation of three strategic breakthroughs has created a new foundation and driving force to promote socio-economic development.

In terms of culture and society, human development has achieved many important results, social security has been significantly improved, and people's lives have been increasingly enhanced. The Party and State's policies on comprehensive human development have become more complete and substantial. Economic growth is more closely linked to ensuring social progress and equity; the health care system and people's health care have made positive progress. National defense and security have been constantly consolidated and enhanced; foreign relations and international integration have been upgraded, achieving many outstanding results. Our Party has effectively combined two strategic tasks: Building and defending the Fatherland; maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for development.

According to Mr. Tho, the work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system has achieved many important results, with breakthroughs; the work of building the Party in terms of ethics has been focused on. The construction and perfection of the Vietnamese socialist rule-of-law State of the people, by the people and for the people, led by the Communist Party of Vietnam , has been increasingly implemented more drastically, comprehensively and synchronously. After 40 years of renovation, our Party has gradually built and perfected the theory of the renovation policy.

He said that the outstanding mark of the 13th term of the Party is that the work of inspection, supervision and Party discipline has been resolutely implemented, contributing to deterring and preventing negativity, tightening discipline and order within the Party. The work of arranging and streamlining the organization of the political system has been carried out synchronously and effectively, creating positive changes.

Mr. Lam said: After reading the entire draft documents of the 14th Party Congress, he basically agreed. He was pleased and excited because during the past term, there were many bright spots such as the implementation of three strategic breakthroughs, resource management, environmental protection and climate change adaptation with positive changes; cultural, human and social development achieved much progress; social security was significantly improved, and people's lives were increasingly improved.

According to Mr. Lam, besides the encouraging achievements, there are still some issues that need more attention, such as: It is necessary to specifically state the growth rate of labor productivity, total social investment capital, environmental indicators; clarify the role of new economic sectors such as digital economy, green economy, circular economy and digital transformation.

He said that environmental pollution has not been effectively controlled; what is worrying is the political and moral degradation of a number of cadres and party members. It is necessary to clearly analyze the subjective causes leading to this situation of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation", while emphasizing the responsibility of leaders, especially in the fields of health and education.

Regarding the Draft Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, Mr. Lam highly appreciated the elaborate preparation, sharp theory, rich and profound practice, tight structure, inheritance and development of leadership lines through previous Congresses. This draft demonstrates strategic vision, long-term orientation, suitable to the context and development requirements of the country.

He stated that the development perspective for the next term has been clearly defined: by 2030, Vietnam will become a developing, modern industrial, upper-middle-income country; by 2045, it will become a developed, high-income country. “I strongly agree with the 13 development orientations, 6 key tasks and 3 strategic breakthroughs stated in the Draft Political Report submitted to the 14th Party Congress,” Mr. Lam emphasized.

Party member Nguyen Huu Duc, former Editor-in-Chief of Ap Bac Newspaper (former Tien Giang province, now Dong Thap province) said that the Political Report presented to the 14th Congress demonstrates the spirit of looking straight at the truth, objectively and comprehensively assessing and affirming the outstanding results achieved in the past 5 years as well as after 40 years of national renovation.

Mr. Duc commented: In the context of the world situation changing rapidly, complicatedly, unpredictably, with many intertwined unstable factors, our country still maintains political stability, develops the economy and society, strengthens national defense and security, expands foreign relations, and enhances Vietnam's international position and prestige. That is the result of the Party's wise leadership, the State's resolute management, the spirit of solidarity of the entire nation and the efforts of the entire political system.

According to Mr. Duc, the Draft Report needs to continue to emphasize the role of innovation in the Party's leadership thinking in the context of deep international integration and global digital transformation; clarify the achievements in science and technology development, innovation, knowledge economy, green economy, circular economy and digital economy - key drivers for sustainable growth in the coming time.

Mr. Duc also suggested further analysis of the work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system, especially in preventing and combating corruption and negativity, controlling power and innovating leadership methods; clarifying the positive impact of this work in consolidating people's trust, enhancing the prestige, leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party.

He emphasized that “the country’s foundation, potential, position and international prestige after 40 years of renovation” are not only reflected in the speed of economic development, but also in its political mettle, the strength of national solidarity, the capacity for international integration and the strategic vision for sustainable development.
