Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan meets with Vice President of Ecuador

On October 27, at the Presidential Palace, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met with Vice President of the Republic of Ecuador Maria Jose Pinto Gonzalez Artigas on the occasion of attending the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime (Hanoi Convention) in Hanoi.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan was pleased to welcome Ms. Maria Jose Pinto Gonzalez Artigas on her first visit to Vietnam as Vice President of Ecuador, leading a high-level Ecuadorian delegation to this important event. This demonstrates Ecuador's determination to work together with the international community to combat cybercrime and transnational crime, while also contributing to further deepening bilateral relations as the two countries celebrate 45 years of diplomatic relations (January 1, 1980 - January 1, 2025).

At the meeting, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan expressed her appreciation for the support and solidarity of the Ecuadorian people with Vietnam during the years of national liberation struggle and reunification, as well as in the cause of national construction and development today. She affirmed that Vietnam values ​​the good friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Ecuador and is determined to continue to deepen, broaden, and make the cooperation between the two countries more practical and effective, for the benefit of the people and the common development of both countries.

The Vice President of Ecuador expressed his pleasure at visiting Vietnam for the first time; congratulated Vietnam on successfully hosting the opening ceremony of the Hanoi Convention; and affirmed that Vietnam has demonstrated leadership and made positive contributions to the global fight against cybercrime. The Vice President of Ecuador expressed his admiration for Vietnam's dynamic development and his desire to further strengthen and develop relations on both bilateral and multilateral levels within the overall policy of expanding relations with the Asia- Pacific region.

Both sides shared views on the potential for cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, agriculture, telecommunications, defense, security, education, culture, and sports, as well as the need to exchange experiences in areas of mutual interest, including the protection of women's and children's rights. Both sides agreed to strengthen exchanges of delegations and high-level contacts between the two countries, continue to effectively, regularly, and flexibly utilize existing political and economic cooperation mechanisms; and encourage trade and investment promotion activities, business networking, and cooperation in areas where each side has strengths.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan requested that Ecuador soon recognize Vietnam as a market economy; and asked the Ecuadorian government to encourage and facilitate Vietnamese businesses to cooperate and invest in Ecuador, especially in the fields of telecommunications, agriculture, and oil and gas.
Both sides agreed that, in the context of a volatile international environment, the two countries need to strengthen exchanges, coordination, and mutual support in international organizations and multilateral forums, promoting the role of international law and multilateralism for peace, stability, cooperation, and prosperity in both regions and the world.

On this occasion, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan conveyed President Luong Cuong's invitation to Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa to visit Vietnam. Vice President Maria Jose Pinto Gonzalez Artigas respectfully invited Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan to visit Ecuador. The Vice President expressed her gratitude and suggested that the two sides arrange the visit through diplomatic channels.
