During the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked King Haji Hassanal Bolkiah for sending condolences and emergency aid to help Vietnam overcome the consequences of Typhoon No. 3, emphasizing that this is clear evidence of the friendship and sharing between the leaders and people of the two countries.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction at witnessing the continued positive development of the Vietnam-Brunei Darussalam Comprehensive Partnership; and agreed to further deepen and strengthen bilateral relations, contributing to building a strong, resilient, and sustainably developed ASEAN Community.
Regarding future cooperation priorities, the two leaders agreed to strengthen high-level delegation exchanges; coordinate the effective implementation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms and the Action Program for the Vietnam-Brunei Darussalam Comprehensive Partnership for the period 2023-2027.
The Prime Minister requested Brunei to pay attention to and facilitate the licensing of Vietnamese fishing vessels and fishermen to operate in Brunei; and to promptly renew the Memorandum of Cooperation on the use of a hotline for information exchange to address illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.

The Sultan of Brunei affirmed that he would arrange a state visit to Vietnam soon; agreeing to further deepen friendly relations with Vietnam, and strengthen cooperation in trade, agriculture , fisheries, and oil and gas. The Sultan also highly appreciated the fact that the two countries would soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of Halal, and agreed to promote cooperation in participating in the global Halal food and goods supply chain.
The two leaders exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern, agreeing to uphold ASEAN's solidarity, unity, and central role in the region; ensuring peace, stability, security, safety, and freedom of navigation and overflight in the South China Sea on the basis of international law, especially the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982); and working towards the early achievement of an effective and legally binding Code of Conduct in the South China Sea (COC), in accordance with international law, including UNCLOS 1982.
