Proposal to use helicopters to search for 10 missing sailors in Ha Tinh waters

The Department of Search and Rescue has coordinated with the 18th Army Corps on the possibility of using helicopters to observe, detect and search for and rescue 10 missing victims in the waters of Ha Tinh.

On the morning of May 26, according to information from the Department of Search and Rescue (General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army), the unit is proposing to use helicopters of the 18th Army Corps to coordinate with forces at the scene to search and rescue 10 missing victims in the waters of Ha Tinh .

According to the Department of Search and Rescue, at 10:06 p.m. on May 25, the Office of the National Civil Defense Steering Committee received information from the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center about the sinking of a coal ship in the waters of Ha Tinh.

Specifically, at 9:10 p.m. on May 25, at coordinates about 3 nautical miles from Dong Mui Ron, Ky Anh, Ha Tinh, the Vietnamese cargo ship Cong Thanh 07 carrying coal, traveling from Hon Gai (Quang Ninh) to Hon La ( Quang Binh ), when reaching the above location, the port side was flooded, the ship tilted to the left, sank, 11 crew members on board went missing. The weather in the area had Northeast winds of level 3-4.

At 5:50 a.m. on May 26, fishing boat QB-93176 TS rescued a crew member, Mr. Do Sy Thuong, born in 1978. At the scene of the sinking of Cong Thanh 07, there are 3 ships conducting search and rescue, including: SAR 631, Coast Guard ship 1011 and Grand Family 56.

The Department of Search and Rescue has coordinated with the 18th Army Corps on the possibility of using helicopters to observe, detect and search for the 10 missing victims; at the same time, it requested the Ministry of National Defense Command to report to the Chief of the General Staff and the Chief of the Ministry of National Defense to direct the 18th Army Corps to use a helicopter to fly to observe, coordinate with forces at the scene to search and rescue the missing victims./.
