Some streamers and gamers said that after getting a haircut, they were shocked to discover a dent on the top of their head and suspected that the dent could have come from wearing headphones for a long time.

But can wearing headphones too much cause a dent in the skull, considering the pressure that most headphones are designed to exert? According to a study published in the US National Library of Medicine, it takes 300 pounds of pressure to cause a dent in the skull. So the answer is no!

Wearing headphones will not change the shape of your head. Even if a dent appears, it will eventually go away. While long-term use of headphones may not cause a dent, it can cause permanent hearing loss.

Sometimes, due to work requirements, using headphones is necessary. After a tiring day at work, wearing headphones to enjoy your favorite music is also a very effective way to reduce stress. However, health experts recommend that headphones must be used properly, ensuring that they do not affect your health, especially your hearing ability.

According to the National Institutes of Health , the appropriate volume for listening without harming your hearing is 70 dBA. Leaving headphones above this level can cause serious hearing loss over time.

Nowadays, for more convenience, users can install a sound level meter application. This application helps measure the noise level of the environment and the decibel level from devices, which is an effective way to control the sound level from headphones if using this device regularly.
