Barcelona are looking to strengthen their squad to pursue higher ambitions next season. Besides the departure of key players like Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, the Catalan club also wants to bring back their legend, Lionel Messi, to the Nou Camp. To make room for Messi's return, Barca are trying to persuade Ansu Fati to move to a new club. In addition, Raphinha is another player likely to leave before Messi's return.

Sources close to the club have confirmed to 90min that star Karim Benzema has decided to remain with Real Madrid for another season and has not yet decided on a move to Saudi Arabia. Initially, Benzema agreed to the terms of a new one-year contract with Real during negotiations in March and was expected to sign it at the end of this season. However, the 35-year-old then received an offer from Al-Ittihad to play in the Saudi Pro League on a two-year contract worth up to €400 million.

Benzema informed Real Madrid president Florentino Perez of his intention to leave, and the club boss made it clear that he wanted him to stay, but the French player had decided at the time to end his career in Madrid after 14 years. However, many reputable football news outlets such as Marca and Goal reported that further meetings were held, and ultimately Benzema decided to stay for another season at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Previously, to "compensate" for Benzema's departure, Real Madrid had contacted several potential candidates to replace the French striker, most notably Harry Kane of Tottenham. However, Benzema's decision will allow Real to focus on strengthening other positions in their squad, including finalizing a deal for English star Jude Bellingham.

Marco Asensio has decided to join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on a free transfer after his contract with Real Madrid expires. The Spanish international was a rising star when Real won the UEFA Champions League in the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 seasons. Asensio only scored 12 goals in all competitions in both the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 seasons, which is why he didn't have a regular starting place under coach Carlo Ancelotti. Therefore, Asensio has decided to leave Bernabeu this summer to move to France.

According to 90min, in early May, Aston Villa offered to sign the 27-year-old, but his agent, Jorge Mendes, told Unai Emery's team that Asensio would join PSG. Prior to that, Asensio had also attracted interest from many big clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Marseille.

The former Mallorca star made 285 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring a total of 61 goals and winning three La Liga titles, three UEFA Champions League titles, and numerous other trophies with the Spanish giants.
