On December 1st, leaders of the People's Committee of Tra Don commune (Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province) announced that they had inspected the scene of the landslide caused by the earthquake, which resulted in dozens of rocks rolling down into Tu Hon village (hamlet 3, Tra Don commune).
Many large rocks fell from the mountain and rolled down into the village area.
Earlier, on the afternoon and evening of November 30th, six earthquakes occurred consecutively in Kon Plông district, Kon Tum province. The first three earthquakes occurred at 4:42 PM and 5:12 PM, with magnitudes of 4, 3.8, and 3.4 on the Richter scale, respectively. The three subsequent earthquakes were smaller.
Nevertheless, many residents in Nam Tra My district reported feeling 3-4 very strong tremors, especially the first two. Many said they panicked and ran out of their homes.
Notably, in Tu Hon village, the earthquake caused landslides with many very large rocks rolling down from the top of Ngoc Mong mountain to the area above the village, about 30 to 50 meters from people's houses.
Local authorities evacuated residents to ensure their safety.
The scene revealed several very large rocks precariously perched on the high cliff or caught on tree roots during the landslide, posing a risk of further rolling down and endangering 17 households with 69 people and the kindergarten in Tu Hon village.
The incident was urgently reported by the People's Committee of Tra Don commune to the People's Committee of Nam Tra My district. The Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Nam Tra My district directed the People's Committee of Tra Don commune to urgently organize the evacuation of all households from the dangerous area to avoid being hit by falling rocks, and at the same time develop a plan to handle the landslide incident.
Early this morning (December 1st), the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center – Institute of Geophysics also recorded two earthquakes with magnitudes of 2.7 and 2.8 on the Richter scale in the Kon Plông district area.
