(DN)- On September 23, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha assigned the Departments of Construction and Finance to inspect and handle traffic safety violations on National Highway 51, the section passing through the province.

Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Director of the Department of Construction to inspect the damage and traffic safety on National Highway 51; promptly handle the damaged locations to ensure traffic safety, ensuring traffic circulation for vehicles. At the same time, the Department of Construction will speed up the implementation of periodic repair projects on this national highway, and soon complete the procedures to start construction in October 2025.

The Department of Finance advises and proposes to the Provincial People's Committee to balance and arrange capital sources to implement the National Highway 51 repair projects according to plan.

Since mid-May 2025, applying the provisions of the 2024 Road Law, Dong Nai province has received and handed over the management of more than 150km of sections of 4 national highways including: National Highway 1, National Highway 20, National Highway 51 and National Highway 56 from the Ministry of Construction .

According to the assessment of the Department of Construction, at the time of receiving and handing over and managing these national highways, the sections of the route had many damaged and seriously degraded points, causing traffic insecurity and affecting the lives, activities, production and business of people and enterprises in the province.

In particular, on Highway 51, many sections of the road are in a state of serious road deterioration, with potholes, ruts, cracks, flooding, etc., and traffic jams often occur due to the large volume of vehicles on the route, posing a potential risk of traffic accidents.

Currently, Dong Nai province has also proposed that the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Construction consider supporting the province with more than 1,300 billion VND in capital to comprehensively repair these national highways.
