Binh Thuan tourism flourishes, affirming its mark on Vietnam's tourism map

Over the past 30 years of development, Binh Thuan has earned a place among the top 10 outstanding tourist provinces in Vietnam.

Mr. Bui The Nhan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan province, made this statement at the recent workshop "Introducing and promoting Ke Ga - Binh Thuan as a destination".

In recent years, tourism in Binh Thuan has continuously grown in both quality and quantity, becoming one of the most attractive destinations in the South Central region.

According to Mr. Bui The Nhan, at the beginning of 2023, Binh Thuan province was expected to welcome 8.3 million tourists, an increase of 2.1 million compared to 2022 (6.2 million tourists), with revenue reaching 19,500 billion VND. Of these, approximately 220,000 were international visitors. By the end of November, the province had already exceeded its target, with the number of visitors increasing by 16.4%, and the number of foreign visitors doubling compared to last year.

These results were achieved thanks to the Bình Thuận tourism industry's proactive implementation of numerous tourism promotion and marketing activities, as well as advising on and organizing large-scale events to attract tourists.

In particular, the series of events in response to the 2023 National Tourism Year “Binh Thuan - Green Convergence” includes the Opening Ceremony of the 2023 National Tourism Year; Street Culture Week; Fishing Festival; BTV Binh Thuan 2023 Stop And Run Marathon; exhibition “Binh Thuan Cultural Heritage Connecting Regions”...

In addition, the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan province stated that tourism businesses have gradually recovered and developed, constantly improving the quality of service for tourists and strengthening tourism human resource training.

"Businesses are actively implementing many new and attractive tourism product packages, along with appropriate discount programs to stimulate tourism, attracting a large number of tourists from the southern and Central Highlands provinces to visit and relax in the province, especially during holidays and Tet," Mr. Nhan emphasized.

Furthermore, Binh Thuan's tourism industry is thriving thanks to its convenient transportation and infrastructure connections. The two expressways, Phan Thiet-Dau Giay and Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet, have become operational, shortening travel time from other localities to Binh Thuan and creating a huge boost for the local tourism industry.

The province also upgraded and expanded National Highway 28B; completed the construction of coastal roads and connecting routes between the coastal road and National Highway 1A, expressways, etc. "Binh Thuan also ranked among the top localities nationwide with high revenue, exceeding 10,000 billion VND. This has affirmed the province's tourism mark on the Vietnamese tourism map," Mr. Nhan said.

To keep tourism on the rise.

At the meeting to hear reports on the socio-economic situation, national security and defense in 2023 and directions and tasks for 2024 organized by the People's Committee, many opinions acknowledged the outstanding highlight of tourism in the economic picture of Binh Thuan. Accordingly, it was proposed that the target for receiving tourists in 2024 should reach 8.8 million visitors (an increase of more than 5% compared to 2023).

To enhance tourism promotion, Binh Thuan is also considering developing its night-time economy and has a plan for the development of the night-time economy in Binh Thuan province until 2030.

According to Mr. Bui The Nhan, this project establishes Phan Thiet as the center of the night-time economy, within the existing urban area. The second night-time economic zone is in Ham Tien - Mui Ne - the "resort capital," developed independently by businesses and associations. The third night-time economic zone is Ke Ga, located within the Thanh Long Bay and NovaWorld Phan Thiet urban areas.

At the same time, the province will also organize annual events that reflect the province's unique tourism style, closely linked to natural elements, such as a professional cycling race utilizing the Bau Trang double-track route, a motocross race on the sand dunes, kiteboarding on the sea, and a kite festival on Trinh Nu Hill. Binh Thuan is designing specialized sports events for tourists such as kiteboarding, parasailing, and marathon running...

According to experts, in addition to strengthening the promotion of the image and brand, for Binh Thuan tourism to continue its "take-off," it is necessary to focus on improving quality and expanding linkages, creating many new, high-class products and services.

Simultaneously, it is necessary to continue leveraging the advantages of the destination with its many attractive tourism types, especially beach and island tourism, forest, waterfall and lake exploration, and water sports and recreation on the sea and sand dunes. From there, we can attract strategic investors with the capacity and experience to implement "highlight" projects in accordance with the province's development plan.

Furthermore, Binh Thuan needs to focus on investing in and improving its telecommunications and information technology infrastructure, providing free Wi-Fi at tourist areas and attractions, and spreading the image of a "Safe - Friendly - Attractive - High-Quality" destination to a wide range of domestic and international tourists.
