On the evening of December 29, the play "Aspiration for Tomorrow" (awarded the A prize in the creative campaign with the theme "Forever a Love" by author Tran Van Hung, director - People's Artist Tran Minh Ngoc) performed by artists of Trinh Kim Chi Drama Theater debuted to the public at the Ho Chi Minh City Children's House stage.
Towards a better future
People's Artist Tran Minh Ngoc was excited to receive the brainchild of author Tran Van Hung, because the script was about the construction of the metro line in Ho Chi Minh City. After discussing, editing, and updating the latest information about the lives and activities of the workers and engineers, as well as the people's perspectives on the iconic project of the city named after Uncle Ho, the play was launched with a cast of skilled actors. Musician - People's Artist Ho Van Thanh is the music composer who wrote many touching songs to effectively support the actors' performances.
What made the audience excited was that the director staged a revolutionary play that was youthful and realistic so that young people could see themselves in the examples of revolutionary soldiers who went before. The story is about revolutionaries who fought side by side, including soldier Nguyen Minh Hoa - a scientist , who fought with his teammates and tried to connect with an American scientist to research the traffic system of Ho Chi Minh City.
A scene from the play "Aspiration for Tomorrow"
The character Nguyen Minh Hoa aspires to build Ho Chi Minh City into a livable city. From that dream, his teammates have tried to realize it, including Tu Le, Head of the City Metro Construction Management Board, who has supported the team of young engineers, including the daughter of soldier Nguyen Minh Hoa, who returned to contribute to the country after studying abroad. The drama about the revolutionary war theme is vividly integrated with the breath of the times, with the idea of eliminating hatred in the past, looking towards a better future, so it has conquered the audience.
For the young generation of actors participating in the play, when the war was long gone, not everyone could understand the theme of revolutionary war. But through the way of staging, sending many concerns into the work of the master of staging like People's Artist Tran Minh Ngoc, he helped the cast immerse themselves in the play's story that was told coherently, interwoven between the past, the present and also had very real images from the hustle and bustle of life in the city, from the people's trust and love for the city's key projects.
Close to life
It is worth noting that the production team was very skillful and subtle in not using too deep, dry political language, but the drama penetrated the audience's emotions, in a space that was truly youthful and close to life. "I want young people to be able to see themselves in the examples of their predecessors. Each construction project carries the passion to make the city rich, beautiful, and affectionate" - People's Artist Tran Minh Ngoc expressed.
In "Aspiration for Tomorrow", the personal and common feelings of communist soldiers were subtly expressed. The beautiful mark belongs to the role of People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi, mother of martyr Nguyen Minh Hoa, a character representing the people who are willing to sacrifice everything to protect freedom and independence. Even in peacetime, when the metro line was built across the house, she accepted to move, only asking to uproot the star apple tree, which during the war, the sweet fruits on the branches had helped revolutionary soldiers overcome hunger when she hid them in the family's secret basement.
There is also engineer Linda and motorbike taxi driver Nghia - representing the people who aspire to build an increasingly prosperous city.
The staging technique of People's Artist Tran Minh Ngoc has blended simple, genuine, profound and heroic emotions. All convey the message: No matter how difficult it is, the revolutionary soldiers still firmly believe in the Party, in front of the enemy's guns, they still proudly hold their heads high, believing in the glorious victory of the revolution and in peacetime, they face many challenges but are still determined to build a strong and self-reliant country.
The play also emphasizes a very meaningful message, that is, in every era there are young people and young people who love their country in one way or another - even though they are far from home, they still yearn to contribute and devote themselves to the beautiful community life of a civilized city.
People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi confided: "Trinh Kim Chi Drama Theater was entrusted by the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations and the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association to perform the work "Aspiration for Tomorrow" to inform and propagate the message of joining hands to build a civilized, modern, and affectionate city. With the special meaning of the play, actors such as Trung Dung, Van Anh, Phuong Binh, Thuy Muoi, Nam Cuong, Trong Hieu... have distilled their hearts and minds to create excellent roles."
