Next September, Emma Watson will return to Oxford University to study for a master's degree, 10 years after receiving her bachelor's degree from the school.

Previously, Watson studied at Oxford University (UK) distance learning program in the 2011-2012 academic year. This is the program she pursued during her time on leave from Brown University (USA) to focus on the role of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series.

The actress also graduated from Brown University in 2014. It took her 5 years to complete the program here instead of 4 years like her friends because she had to take a leave of absence due to work. However, Watson never intended to drop out of school. She even turned down many invitations to spend time studying.

The 33-year-old actress will now begin her Masters in Creative Writing in September, a decision she revealed in a recent interview with Financial Times .

Over the years, Watson has maintained close ties with Oxford University.

In 2016, the Beauty and the Beast star became an unofficial scholar at Lady Margaret Hall at Oxford University. During her three years in this position, she was regularly invited to attend debates and lectures at the university.

In 2019, she was further appointed as an Associate Scholar of the University of Oxford.

Also in an interview with Financial Times , Watson explained her decision to take a hiatus from acting in 2018.

“I don’t feel free. One of the hardest things about this job is having to answer questions that I have nothing to do with, like giving my personal opinion on a movie plot,” Watson said.

Emma Watson was born in 1990 and became world famous when she played the witch Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series. She continued to impress when she appeared in The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) and recently Beauty and the Beast (2017), Little Women (2019).
