The FAT's punishment was issued after the Football Association's Ethics Investigation Committee, headed by Amnuay Nimmano, opened an investigation on May 18. Much evidence was collected from the brawl in the men's football final of the 32nd SEA Games on May 16 between the U.22 Thailand team and the U.22 Indonesia team.

The investigation was completed on May 22 and reported to the FAT. On the morning of May 23, the FAT announced: "After the investigation by the Ethics Investigation Committee. All opinions are unanimous that Mr. Prasadchok Chokmoh, the goalkeeper coach, and Mr. Mayed Madada and Mr. Patrawut Wongsripuek, assistants and team officials, had provocative actions and behaved inappropriately in their roles.

In their role, they should have been the ones to control the situation and monitor the behavior of the young players. However, they failed to fulfill their duties, even participating in the fight, not stopping the players, and tarnishing the image of Thai football. All three of them were therefore duly punished with a ban from participating in all activities of the Thai national teams for 1 year."

Meanwhile, two players Sophonwit Rakyath (goalkeeper) and Teerapak Pruengna (midfielder) directly participated in the fights with the Indonesian U.22 team, also seriously violating professional ethics regulations.

"However, after the incident, Sophonwit Rakyath and Teerapak Pruengna both gave sincere apologies. Both of them realized their mistakes. They are also young players, only 21 and 22 years old. Therefore, FAT found it necessary to reduce the penalty to have an appropriate penalty, helping them return to football life soon, with a penalty of banning them from playing for all Thai teams within 6 months," FAT's announcement added.

Head coach of the Thai U.22 team, Issara Sritaro, was not punished and will continue to lead the team in the upcoming U.23 Asian qualifiers.

However, this is only an internal penalty of FAT. The brawl in the final match of men's football at the 32nd SEA Games is also being investigated by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and reported to FIFA. In the near future, there will certainly be more penalties related to the violators and Thai football may also be implicated.
