| Domestic coffee price list updated on the morning of May 2nd, 2025. |
The domestic coffee market is currently stable due to the April 30th - May 1st holiday, so coffee prices are unlikely to fluctuate significantly this week.
However, according to experts, the coffee market is currently being affected by several factors. These include a projected decrease in production, unfavorable weather conditions, and the tendency to hoard goods in anticipation of higher prices, all of which will support coffee prices in the short term. Nevertheless, farmers and businesses need to be cautious and flexible in their business strategies to capitalize on opportunities and minimize risks.
According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association, in the first six months of the 2024-2025 crop season, Vietnam exported approximately 700,000 tons of coffee, equivalent to 50% of the total production. Of this amount, farmers currently only hold about 20% of the stock, with the remainder mainly stored in company warehouses awaiting export.
Since the beginning of the season, domestic coffee prices have consistently remained above 110,000 VND/kg. Unlike previous years, when prices fell below 40,000 VND/kg, forcing farmers to sell off their crops, they now have stronger financial resources thanks to good income from coffee, durian, pepper, and betel nuts. As a result, they are proactively selling off their produce in stages to maintain stable agricultural prices.
The global coffee market continues to face the risk of supply shortages, especially for Robusta coffee, Vietnam's main export commodity. This scarcity has been the main driving force behind the sustained high prices of Robusta coffee both domestically and internationally since last year.
According to a report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), global coffee production in 2024 is expected to increase by approximately 4% compared to last year, reaching 10.5 million tons. This result is attributed to more favorable weather conditions and advancements in farming techniques in many countries.
