On the evening of December 13th, at the Hai Phong City Theater, the Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera) play "Heroes in Times of Turmoil," staged by the Hai Phong Traditional Theater, officially premiered. The performance was broadcast live on THP and THP+ channels of Hai Phong Newspaper and Radio and Television.
This play is part of the 2025 Television Theater Project, aiming to spread traditional theatrical arts to a wider audience through television.

Inspired by the history and folk beliefs of the coastal region, the play recreates the image of Nam Hai Dai Vuong - the renowned general Pham Tu Nghi, a historical figure closely associated with the ancient land of Vinh Niem, now part of An Bien ward, Hai Phong city.
On the cải lương (Vietnamese traditional opera) stage, Phạm Tử Nghi is portrayed as a renowned general with extraordinary courage amidst a turbulent national context, marked by prolonged wars and power struggles.
His life was a journey of challenges, glory intertwined with tragedy, vividly reflecting the fate of heroes born in times of turmoil.

Beyond simply recounting a historical event, "Heroes in Turbulent Times" focuses on portraying the profound humanistic depth of the characters, highlighting their loyalty, sense of responsibility to the nation, and deep-seated connection to the people and their homeland.
Family relationships, maternal love, marital devotion, and the bond between the people and the general are skillfully interwoven, creating emotional weight for the play while conveying the people's aspirations for peace , justice, and enduring loyalty.
The performance was staged by an experienced artistic team, with a script by Tran Quoc Kien and Tran Tuan Tien; adapted into Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera) by Meritorious Artist Ngoc Chi; and edited and directed by People's Artist Hoang Quynh Mai.

The program featured the participation of numerous artists, actors, and musicians from the Hai Phong Traditional Stage Theatre's Cai Luong Troupe, along with many central and professional art units, contributing to the creation of a profound and distinctive work that left a lasting impression on television viewers.
