Domestically, according to the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's coffee exports in April reached 166,606 tons, down 8% in volume and 9.2% in value compared to March. However, compared to the same period last year, output increased by 11% and value increased by 68.6%.

In the first four months of 2025, Vietnam exported nearly 666,000 tons of coffee, reaching a turnover of 3.8 billion USD. Although output decreased by 9.1% compared to the same period last year, value increased sharply by 51.8% thanks to high world coffee prices.

In Dak Nong, many ethnic minority farmers in Dak Nia commune have chosen coffee as their main crop. Thanks to the application of farming techniques and hard work, many households have escaped poverty and have stable incomes.

Mr. Do Van Sin, Vice Chairman of Dak Nia Commune People's Committee, said that in recent years, the commune has actively encouraged each ethnic minority household to plant at least 200 - 300 coffee trees to develop the economy. Thanks to the support of seeds and techniques from the government and the consensus of the people, this model has brought about clear results. On average, coffee yield is about 2 tons/ha, households with good care can harvest 4 - 5 tons/ha.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market fluctuate on two exchanges:

Robusta Coffee (London):

Delivery in July 2025: Up 46 USD/ton, to 5302 USD/ton.

Delivery September 2025: Up 47 USD/ton, up 5248 USD/ton.

Arabica Coffee (New York):

July 2025 delivery: Down 3.15 cents/lb, to 386.7 cents/lb.

September 2025 delivery: Down 2.45 cents/lb, to 381.3 cents/lb.

According to Communicaffe, technical analysis shows that Arabica coffee prices could surpass the historical peak reached in February and surpass the 470 cents/pound level. Prices could even reach the $5/pound region, similar to the recent upward trend in cocoa and orange juice futures.

One of the factors driving the rally is the sharp depreciation of the US dollar. From January to April 21, the US dollar index fell from over 110 to below 98.

In addition, there are concerns that the US’s increased import tariffs will push up coffee prices and reduce consumption demand. Several large companies such as Starbucks, Hershey and Mondelez International said that the 10% basic tax rate applied by the Trump administration could increase prices and negatively affect consumption output in the US.

In terms of trading, the number of open positions decreased sharply by more than 18%, from 176,927 contracts on March 31 to 144,530 contracts on April 21. The main reason was the conversion of maturities from May to July and profit-taking activities after the price increase period.
