During the 5-day 30.4-1.5 holiday, road transport by fixed-route buses and coaches is expected to receive a higher number of passengers than at other times of the year. Therefore, to prepare for serving passengers during the peak season, bus stations and bus companies have prepared proactive plans to serve customers at this time.
According to the Lao Dong Newspaper's reporter, at this time, most bus companies in the provinces of Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien , Lai Chau... are keeping ticket prices stable so that people, workers, and students can return home for the holidays.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Pham Van Tuan - Director of Ngan Ha Company, a passenger transport unit specializing in the Lai Chau - Sa Pa - Hanoi route, assessed that the number of passengers during the April 30 - May 1 holiday will increase but not dramatically.
According to Mr. Tuan, with many years of experience driving buses on the Hanoi - Lai Chau route, the number of passengers to Lai Chau is relatively stable. Passengers are mainly officials, students and some individual customers, rarely have any visitors.
"The unit will keep ticket prices the same as normal days so that passengers can rest assured to return home for the holiday," said Mr. Tuan.
Mr. Nguyen Luong Son - Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Son La Passenger Transport Joint Stock Company (Son La - Hanoi route) also does not expect too much that the number of passengers will increase during this holiday.
"People have the need to go out, visit relatives, and travel during the holidays, but they mainly travel by personal vehicles or use contracted vehicles and travel companies, and rarely take buses," Mr. Son shared.
According to Mr. Son, following the direction of Son La province and the Department of Transport, the unit will not increase fares during the holidays. At the same time, the company has communicated to all drivers about keeping the price at 320,000 VND/ticket. Even if the number of passengers suddenly increases, the transportation fare will not increase.
Mr. Giang - driver of Hai Dinh bus company (Dien Bien - Thanh Hoa route) - shared: "Previously, on holidays and Tet, bus companies would increase the number of trips to ensure serving people's travel needs, but in the past 2 years, the buses are often empty, not enough for the standard number of passengers."
According to this driver, the number of passengers during this year's holiday will increase, but not by much. However, the company will still increase the number of vehicles to serve the people, so that no one has to wait for a vehicle. At the same time, the fare will be kept the same as normal days, which is 400,000 VND/ticket.
Similarly, Mr. Trinh Quang Hung - Director of Song Da Transport Cooperative (Hanoi - Luong Son - Hoa Binh route) affirmed that the unit's ticket prices will remain the same regardless of holidays or Tet.
On the occasion of Victory Day April 30 and International Labor Day May 1, 2024, civil servants and public employees will have 5 consecutive days off from Saturday April 27 to Wednesday May 1 (working as a compensatory day on Saturday May 4).
