According to Variety , Pollstar's mid-year report shows Madonna is dominating the list of highest-grossing tours globally in 2024 thanks to the resounding success of her "Celebration Tour". With an average ticket price of $208.85, the "Queen of Pop" has grossed an average of $2,794,007 per night, selling an average of 13,378 tickets, for a total of 856,247 tickets sold across 34 reported shows (out of a planned 65 shows).
Pollstar's mid-year report also analyzed the broader music industry landscape. After years of record-breaking ticket sales fueled by post-pandemic spending surges, the live music market showed signs of stabilization in the first half of 2024. There were no major percentage swings compared to previous years. In 2023, total revenue increased 51.1% compared to 2022, and average revenue per show increased 64.7%. However, in 2024, neither increase exceeded 17% nor decrease exceeded 15%.
"Veteran" Madonna still "dominates" the live music scene.

However, Pollstar's results do not include figures from Taylor Swift's "Eras" tour, which is not publicly reported. Nevertheless, last December, Pollstar recognized the "Eras Tour" as the highest-grossing tour of all time, surpassing the $1 billion mark. With the European leg of the "Eras Tour" starting on May 9th, it's highly likely Taylor Swift will continue to lead the charts this year.
Bad Bunny closely followed Madonna with $174.6 million from the "Most Wanted Tour," followed by Luis Miguel with $169.4 million, U2 in fourth place with $135 million from their Sphere tour, and Karol G rounding out the top 5 with $111 million. The top 10 also included Bruno Mars ($102 million), Coldplay ($100 million), Seventeen ($74 million), Eagles ($69 million), and Nicki Minaj ($66 million).
Globally, total revenue in 2024 will surpass $3 billion for the first time, up from $2.83 billion in 2023. Last year saw significant growth compared to 2022, with total global revenue reaching $1.87 billion. Average revenue in 2024 decreased slightly from last year, reaching $1.37 million compared to $1.47 million, while ticket sales remained almost unchanged ($24.1 million tickets in 2024 compared to 24.3 million tickets in 2023). The average ticket price increased from $116 to $127, although the average number of tickets sold per show decreased from 12,655 to 10,767.
In North America, Bad Bunny led in total revenue with $174.6 million. Madonna followed closely with $148 million, followed by U2 ($135 million), Luis Miguel ($100 million), and the Eagles ($69 million). Total revenue in the region reached $2.33 billion, an 18.7% increase from $1.96 billion last year. Total tickets sold increased to 17.6 million from 16.32 million in 2023, while the average number of tickets sold decreased from 9,071 to 8,252.
This report comes amid a surge in ticket sales, contrasting sharply with the cancellation of tours by many major artists. In recent months, The Black Keys have canceled their international tour, while Jennifer Lopez has also shifted her plans, moving from focusing on a new album to a compilation of her biggest hits.
