Rice prices today, December 15th: Supply is low, prices remain stable.

Today, December 15th, rice prices in the Mekong Delta region showed little fluctuation. The domestic and export rice markets remained relatively stable, with fresh paddy prices trending downwards.

Regarding rice, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the current price of IR 50404 rice (fresh) ranges from 5,200 to 5,400 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice (fresh) ranges from 5,500 to 5,600 VND/kg; OM 34 rice (fresh) ranges from 5,200 to 5,400 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice (fresh) ranges from 6,400 to 6,600 VND/kg; and OM 18 rice (fresh) ranges from 6,400 to 6,600 VND/kg, compared to the end of last week.

Observations in many localities today indicate that remaining supply is low, buying and selling transactions are slow, and prices tend to decrease. In Dong Thap , transactions are sluggish, demand is weak, and prices are trending downwards.

In An Giang , new transactions were few, and buyers tended to offer low prices. In Ca Mau, ST25 rice continued to be offered in good quantities, with little price fluctuation. In Can Tho, Vinh Long, and Tay Ninh, rice transactions were slow, with few buyers and little price change.

Similarly, regarding rice, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province and Vietnam Rice, the price of Dai Thom 8 rice has increased by 200 VND/kg, fluctuating between 8,900 and 9,100 VND/kg; IR 504 export rice is fluctuating between 7,550 and 7,770 VND/kg; OM 5451 export rice is fluctuating between 8,150 and 8,300 VND/kg; Soc Thom export rice is fluctuating between 7,500 and 7,600 VND/kg; CL 555 export rice is fluctuating between 7,340 and 7,450 VND/kg; and OM 380 export rice is fluctuating between 7,200 and 7,300 VND/kg. The price of raw rice for export (OM 18) fluctuated between 8,500 and 8,600 VND/kg; the price of finished IR 504 rice fluctuated between 9,500 and 9,700 VND/kg compared to the previous week.

Regarding by-products, prices range from approximately 7,400 to 10,000 VND/kg. Currently, broken rice is priced at 7,500 - 7,600 VND/kg; and bran is priced at 9,000 - 10,000 VND/kg compared to the end of last week.

Observations in various localities today show weak trading activity and little fluctuation in rice prices. In An Giang, both buyers and factories are offering rice at stable prices.

In Lap Vo and Sa Dec (Dong Thap province), the supply is low, warehouses are buying slowly, selecting only the best quality rice, and prices are relatively stable. In An Cu, Dong Thap province, transactions are slow, and rice prices are relatively stable.

At retail markets, the prices of various types of rice remain stable compared to the weekend. Currently, Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price at 28,000 VND/kg; regular rice fluctuates between 11,000 - 12,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice is 22,000 VND/kg; long-grain Thai fragrant rice fluctuates between 20,000 - 22,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice is at 21,000 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice is 20,000 VND/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice fluctuates between 16,000 - 18,000 VND/kg; common white rice is at 16,000 VND/kg; regular Soc rice fluctuates between 16,000 - 17,000 VND/kg; Soc Thai rice is 20,000 VND/kg; and Japanese rice is 22,000 VND/kg.

On the export market, the price of Vietnamese rice remains stable. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the current price of fragrant rice with 5% broken grains ranges from 420 to 440 USD/ton; 100% broken grains ranges from 314 to 318 USD/ton; and Jasmine rice ranges from 447 to 451 USD/ton.
