This breed of chicken is not only rare but also has very beautiful and unique feathers.
The Brown-eared Pheasant has the scientific name Crossoptilon Mantchuricum. This is a breed of chicken endemic to China, distributed mainly in some mountainous provinces in northern China.

They prefer to live in coniferous forests at altitudes of 1,100-2,600m above sea level.

Adult brown-eared pheasants are 96 - 100cm long. They have a coat of feathers that is a mixture of dark brown, cream and black. The legs of the brown-eared pheasant are red. The eye rims are red and the ears of the brown-eared pheasant have 2 long white tufts of feathers that look very beautiful.

Brown-eared pheasants usually live in flocks. Each brood usually lays 5-8 eggs. The eggs will hatch after 28 days of incubation. Brown-eared pheasants eat seeds, roots, tubers, leaves, etc.
The brown-eared pheasant is threatened by hunting. It is listed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List.
In addition to the brown-eared pheasant, China also owns another equally rare breed of chicken, the Wushan chicken.

Wushan chickens are mainly distributed and raised in Taihe Town, Jiangxi Province. Wushan chickens are also known as white-feathered black-bone chickens, very rare, and are said to have a breeding history of more than 500 years. This breed of chicken was even exhibited at the Panama World Fair in 1915.
Unlike most common chickens, Vu Son chickens have a special appearance, are purebred with characteristics like phoenix feathers, soft, smooth, many bones, black skin, white feathers, and black comb.

The texture of Vu Son chicken is very delicate, has high nutritional value, contains up to 17 types of amino acids and is a tonic in medicine. In oriental medicine, Vu Son chicken has the effect of clearing heat and detoxifying, replenishing qi and blood, treating liver and kidney diseases, treating gynecological diseases, tuberculosis, heart and lung diseases, neurodegeneration, rickets in children...

Normally, Vu Son chicken is stewed with some ingredients that have the effect of nourishing the body. The meat texture is soft, fragrant, and has a special flavor, so it is increasingly popular. Because the quantity sold on the market is limited, its price is relatively high.
In addition, only the mountainous areas in Thai Hoa town can raise and maintain the purebred characteristics of Vu Son chickens. Every year, only about 20 million chickens are sold on the market. The meat of this chicken breed sells well in Hong Kong (China), Japan and some Southeast Asian countries.
