Leaders of the Central Youth Union and Hanoi Youth Union presented 66 restored martyrs' portraits, wrapped in national flags, to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, martyrs' families, and families with revolutionary contributions. This is a meaningful activity under the project "Restoring martyrs' portraits" in the city implemented by Hanoi Youth Union.

From black and white photos that have been stained by time, even with only a few details remaining, no longer intact, through advanced technical measures, images of martyrs are recreated in detail with full color.

Many relatives of the martyrs were moved and could not hold back their tears after receiving the restored portraits.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Oanh (80 years old) held the restored portrait of martyr Nguyen Ho Tan, moved to tears. It is known that martyr Ho Tan died in 1956 at the Hoa Binh front, Mrs. Oanh is also the youngest sister of the martyr.

Holding in her hands the restored portrait of martyr Do Van Duong, Ms. Do Thu Huong (the martyr's niece) emotionally shared: "My uncle is martyr Do Van Duong, who died in 1947 at the age of 19, and is currently buried in Binh Phu cemetery (Quang Nam). The portrait at home is just a redrawn photo, now receiving the restored photo, my family and I are very moved."

At the program, the capital's youth and leaders lit candles, offered incense and flowers at 2,195 graves of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and Heroic Martyrs resting at the Hanoi Martyrs' Cemetery.

“Times will pass, but the contributions of the heroic martyrs will forever be recorded in the glorious history of the nation as an immortal epic. With all our hearts and infinite gratitude, the youth of the capital today vow to follow in the footsteps of the previous generations of fathers and brothers, volunteering to build and protect the Fatherland; living, fighting, working, studying and working worthy of our predecessors, of those who have devoted themselves to the people and the country,” emphasized Secretary of the Hanoi Youth Union Chu Hong Minh.
